If you are granted a visa there and then they will send your passport to you by courier. You pay at the desk in the Embassy for the courier service and you can choose to pay more to get it faster. If they don't tell you they need to do any processing on your visa application you will have your visa in a few days. I've known of some to arrive the next working day.

Obviously most of the people above did not read the details in the question being asked.
You will be given rough estimate on the day of your appointment as to how long they should expect processing to take. However, please note that every application is dealt with on a case-by-case basis and some applications take significantly longer to process than others.
Processing usually takes 3-5 days and from then you can expect to wait about 2-3 weeks before you get your passport/visa back.
However if you were informed on the day of your interview that your application is subject to additional administrative processing, you should allow at least 60 days for this stage of the visa process to be completed, and then the addional 2-3 weeks.
This is however subject to postal delays.

Visit website of US embassy in London. They will have all information for you, starting what documents you need, and also table for the different fees, based on the time. I am sure they have expedited service, but you need pay extra.
