I wanted to know if the leaves on the trees fall off in automn in Florida. I was there last year and i dont think so but my friend thinks that they did. I always thought it is due to the changing weather aswell.

It all depends on the tree. Most subtropical places have a wide variety of tree species including seasonal and non seasonal. Every species of tree will drop leaves at some point, but not all drop them in winter like in northern climates. If the weather is warm enough and humid enough, there will be trees that drop leaves completely while others will only drop them when the leaf needs to be replaced. Coniferous trees on the other hand, never drop them in winter(only as needed), that is why they are called evergreens.

I've lived in Florida 18 years; the leaves most definitely fall off of the trees. However, the leaves only slightly turn colors since they are not giving their chlorophyll to the trunk so that the tree may stay alive for the upcoming winter, because we really don’t have that bad of a winter.

Yes, they would on any deciduous trees but not on evergreen e.g. Palm. There obviously will be a longer period of time in which deciduous trees hold their leaves, but they will fall during the winter like in any other country.

Evergreen trees don't lose their leaves in winter. Palm trees don't lose their leaves in winter. Otherwise its just like Maine, just later.
