If you hear voices in your head telling you to do things, you're insane...
Unless the voice is named god or jesus, then you're just religious.
Ya, right.
Little children have imaginary friends, then they grow out of it...
Unless they are religious, then they grow up to be schizophrenic with "god in their hearts."
You can't reason with a crazy person and just tell them that the voices aren't real. They know they hear voices and feel imaginary things. They won't believe you because THEY ARE CRAZY.
You can't reason with a "believer" and explain that there is no god. They know they feel the holy spirit inside them and hear god speak to them. They won't believe you because THEY ARE CRAZY.
Remember that when you hear the dumbass president with his finger on the US nuclear arsenal tell you that jesus talks to him.
Amen, you silly psychos.

You are doing exactly what you think most Christians do - lumping all together.
I am a Christian. I attend my church regularly, contribute both my time and my money to the church and even serve on the church's board. But some of us Christians are just a bit too much for me.
And if you think all Christians are ignorant, maybe you should realize that there are all kinds of different Christians just like there are different types of atheists and agnostics. Hopefully there are a few out there (you do not seem to be one) that do not think all Christians are ignorant just because a just a few really are.

I don't know that I would choose the word "ignorant" as it carries the idea of being "stupid". Rather, based on conversations and many of the things posted here, I would say that they are not familiar or have never taken the time study/understand the things that religion teaches.
Many of the statements they make and questions they ask display a lack of knowledge about it the most fundamental things about God, faith, the Bible, etc. Usually it looks like they have just never taken the time or effort to learn.
To be fair, I see the same "lack of knowledge" in many of the statements made by Christians about atheism, science, and other subjects. (And too often about their own faith.)
Fortunately, there are lots of excellent sources available for people who want to learn about religion, including the Bible. So there is no excuse for being "ignorant" in that area.

As a religious person i could not care less what you think of me. I do not put believers or non believers into groups and stereotype them. I leave that up to the ignorants.

Non-believers are not ignorant---just blind. It is terrible to think some people choose to be "less" than their fullest potential and refuse to accept the opportunity to "hear" new and important things. There are many who don't think we walked on the moon. Many don't think the Holocaust happened. Many who think Elvis is still alive. Can we call them "ignorant"? We could, but to what end? Do we not really cast doubts on our own beliefs when we doubt what others believe? Do we not leave ourselves open to the same "unkind" and "hatefilled" language the "world" accuses us of when we say such hurtful things. No---I don't think you are ignorant. But I do think you are uninformed. Two totally different things.

I hope this is not taken wrong, I am not trying to be or sound rude at all but since Ignorant means to not understand or to be uninformed YES...you are blinded by lies that the enemy has been at work planting in your head since you were in diapers. And since you will not look beyond that which you feel comfortable with yes you are ignorant and closed minded.

No, I realize that you hold believers in the utmost contempt. I think that is your right. I can't and won't lump a group, as large as atheists and agnostics together and say anything but they don't believe. I don't see the humour in your question..but I guess now is where we are supposed to laugh?

Ignorant means there is something that you don't know. It doesn't mean you're stupid. Yes, I believe that non believers are ignorant. They do not know they can trust the bible as the word of God. That isn't an insult. A person is ignorant of something until they come to know about it. That's all.
