The only one I can comment on is Villeneuve and I give him
an A. He showed class and respect for the drivers,
especially the ones in the chase, by starting at the back.
And he stayed out of trouble all day and didn't cause any
problems. JPM could learn a lot from him. In my book,
Villeneuve earned a lot of brownie point at 'Dega. Now lets
see if he can keep them.

I would say they did about what you said. I think they need more time in the heavy cars.
How ever I thought Scott Speed should get about a B+ for his 7th place showing in the ARCA race. I am not sure if you watch or pay any attention to F1 but they let him go from the team he was on and he was the better of the two drivers. And he showed it Friday.
Jacques Villeneuve played it like the pro he is. At the end Sunday he knew he had no chance and was driving a wounded car so he just got out of the way. Saturday I think he just might have been in the way.
Dario Franchitti seemed like he did the actual learning thing. I am not sure but I think out of the bunch he probably did the least testing. But I don't know that for a fact just saying it because out of the tree he was the only one who was working.
I am surprised that anyone in this NASCAR Q&A would actually be as kind as you are to give them an honest grade.
I do believe next year they NASCAR willbe seeing more from other motor sports. You will see more of Andy Lally ALMS and I understand that Ricky Carmicheal, Motorcross, is going to be driving I think for Jr.

Well since only one made the race I would have to give him a C+ or a low B-. I think that he did the right thing by moving to the back and just learning about the car while staying out of trouble and gaining all of the veteran drivers respect. I think that is why he got the grade I gave him.

Villeneuve (A) it was real classy of him to give up starting in 6th place to start at the rear..
Speed & Franchitti I'd give them both a (B)
Hornish, Well he did not even qualify I'd give him a (C) for effort.
In time all these guys will be good...I'd say Jacques will be the first one to win a Nextel cup race on a oval.

It depends on what the report card is for. If you mean how well did they do for their first race and how well they accomplished the goals they set for the first race then I would say,
Villeneuve A
Speed A
Franchetti B
Hornish D
They can't be compared to cup drivers yet. Only one of them ran in cup.

I agree.. I would rate them a C-.. Oh about Villeneuve, he's now gone to NASCAR. There was one other who also went because of Juan Pablo Montoya..
