So, one of those funny-ish rhetorical-like questions (i.e. "Before they invented drawing boards what did they go back to?") came up in a conversation yesterday, between my friend and me.
The question was, "Why do scientists call it research when they're looking for something new?" To which, my friend wittily replied, "Because they missed it the first time around!" (lol)
However, he then added, "But, of course, there really isn't anything NEW in this world, everything has always been here."
This is, of course, an old concept (DUH!) that I would like to put out there to everyone, just to see what interesting responses come back!
My answer was... MUSIC! Music is one of the only things, that I could quickly think of, that can be considered new. Of course, not the idea of what music is, but rather the music itself! =)
Oh, and just for kicks, here's another one of those funny questions... "Why is a wise man and a wise guy, considered opposites?" *wink*

And for a final rhetorical question...
Why are some things considered "new and improved?" How can something have been improved if it's new? =P

Hi C C. Yes, the NOW is always NEW. Each instant stands clear and separated from the past, without it's shadow reaching out into the future. Each instant is a clean, untarnished birth, in which Unconditional Love can emerge between the past and the present, and be lived in. The present extends forever, yet in this redeeming instant lies Heaven.
And.........Thank the Lawd for MUSIC................
Peace of Now

I concur, there is nothing new 'under the sun'. Not even music. It came from chords etc. that were already invented. Music is older than time. I do enjoy a song that just came out though.
The scientist thing is funny. Everything is an experiment. They don't really KNOW anything. And same for doctors. They are just PRACTICING medicine.
The wise man has lived his years on earth and can safely say that he knows more than someone younger, usually. Huh, how's that for a kick at the wise guy thing. It's funny though.
Just like the new and improved. I hate all this false advertising. I just returned some sour oranges that said on the box "super sweet". It really gets me goin' to the point that I HATE shopping!
Thanks for the thinking Q

Everything, ultimately, exists as energy, and through imagination, individual expression, life experiences, we are constantly creating new energy. New is completely a subjective experience. Biologically speaking, there are new mutations/variations forming due to the evolution of species.
Being bit of a wise guy myself, I don't feel that I'm too different from the wise man. I know when to add levity to any situation, and it often serves me well! It's a wise thing to do in my reality...

Ahh man, you're too clever for me... ;-)
Funnily enough, the ancient Chinese had a take on this - we've been studying it. :-)
The (Buddha -) Nature, which they call Li (i.e. Everything), is like Gold.
The Gold is essentially the same, but can have infinite permutations...
It can be moulded into a Lion, for example, its claws, its mane, its teeth.
Is any part any less 'lion'?
I won't even go into Einstein's Relativity Theory; e=mc2...
:-)
"Matter cannot be created nor destroyed, only changed from one form to another..."
You're gonna think I'm a nerd now... :-)
Music works for me, too. ;-)

You have two seperate questions here. Ideas are often 'new'.
Wise men have learned and applied knowledge so that they may teach and understand. Wise guys make a joke of it. My opinion only but it matters most to me as yours always should to you.

Yes, lots of things.
For the time being, for example, you are my new contact, you are unique as everyone else is. You've got your own character; nothing like others,. Your questions and your answers are good evidences
Have a nice day!

There are always new loves. The person might exist already, but the emotions did not.
