thanks for the answer i just want to be sure cause that's the way it's always been for me but I was told that a week ago INS was there checking everyone versus the previous stop that they just wave you through. I havent been through there in about 6 months which is the reason why but don't know if what they told me is true. Thanks for all the responses!!

My fiance and I just took a trip to San Diego last month and we were stopped going into California by a boarder patrol checkpoint and stopped coming back into Phoenix. It's on the interstate 5.

There might be one on interstate 10 (which is how to get to LA from Phoenix and back). I haven't been to LA for a few years so I'm not 100% sure about this one.

Take care!

there is no immigration check point, but there is a stop that you have to make when you enter into california. they usually look into your car and see if they see anything suspicious, if not, they wave you through. there is border patrol when you go from phoenix to san diego, though.

The checkpoint is in Blythe, CA.
So you can pull over and hide or hide your "passengers" before that........LOL
