--THE SIMPLEST as far as what a Christian is & does is as the following describes:
(1 Peter 2:21) . . .In fact, to this [course] YOU were called, because even Christ suffered for YOU, leaving YOU a model for YOU to follow his steps closely.
--AS SO STATED , a sincere follower of Christs' example!
Mahatma Gandhi also stated what a Christian is not:
*** gt The Greatest Man Who Ever Lived ***
--"I love Christ, but I despise Christians because they do not live as Christ lived."
--SO A Christian is not a label,(as Gandhi despised) but a true follower of Christ!

The word "Christian" was first used by the Church in Antioch to describe a person who ascribed to the beliefs that Christ was the Messiah. Christian is a person who tries to "mimick" the values, life and virtue of Jesus Christ. Whether you view Him as historical or theological makes little difference. A Christian is one who follows Christ.

Christian was a name first given to believers in Jesus Christ at Antioch in Syria, about A.D. It was perhaps given contemptously, but was accepted by followers of Christ as a fit title. So...Christians are true believers of Christ (who live his and his Father's ways more than just Sunday.)

Southern, low IQ, less than a year in college, no world travel unless in the military, relatively poor, blue collar job, or maybe two blue collar jobs, has too many children, school, none will study art, history or a musical instrument unless it is "gitar". By age forty, the guy has a pot belly and drinks too much beer, cheats on his wife. If he's really a good christian, he searches for a wife at a family reunion.

Technically, the word means "Like Christ" Christ-ian, the "-ian" being a suffix meaning "as or related to". It literally means "one who behaves like Christ."
These days however, it is taken to mean "One who follows the doctrine of Christ, or who believes Christ is God." This would be more accurately (strictly linguistically speaking) be termed a "Christ-ist." This would be taken to mean the above or "worshipper of Christ" and is much more accutely related to the beliefs of those who call themselves "Christian".

It means that you are a follower of Christ. It doesn't mean you're perfect, it doesn't mean you don't sin. It means you are saved for eternity and have a relationship with Him.

anyone who believes that Christ is the son of God. for example, jews believe that Christ wasn't the son of God but a prophet or something. so, they aren't Christians even though they also believe in God.
