Ok. So I'm sending a certain brand of chips and juice from St. Louis. Reason is because they don't sell these types in California. Its for my boyfriends birthday. And so far I have ripped the box (you know how they have it folded flat when you buy it...well I ripped one of the corners and I taped it up and it looks so amateur-ish).

But I'm sending both the chips and juice in the same box...knowing how uncareful the UPS guys are, I'm sure they'll be tossed around. By the time it arrives to the person the chips are going to be crushed from being hit by ALL 8 of the juice cans. So what do I do about that?

And do I HAVE to put who its from?

Put the chip inside a box, that can go inside the box you are actually using to send. Get it? That way the juice won't crush them. They will just roll into the box the chip are in.

Yes you have to put who it is from. The delivery company probably won't take it without return address. Especially since 9/11 and all the weird powder mailings with no returns on them.

Yes, you have to have a return addy on your package. With anthrax and "threats" to national security these days, very few places will allow you to send anything anonymously.

Having said that, you should be able to keep everything in tact if you just pack it correctly. I'd place the soda in the bottom of the box and surround it with newspaper or another strong substance that will prevent it from moving about. Place the chips on top of that and make sure that it too is completely surrounded by material that will prevent it from moving. Invest in some environmentally-friendly peanuts or bubble wrap. Before you tape it up for good, just visualize the torture that it will endure. If you can sit on it w/o crunching the chips, you should be good. :-)
I don't know about USP, but the USPS has options for mailing such things. You can specify that the items are fragile and or perishable. You can also insure the box for a certain amount of money....when the handlers see that its insured, they are more apt to handle it with care. :-)
Good luck!
