My sister in law put bananas in my cupboard to age for banana bread and I forgot about them and left for five days... when I came back I looked in my cupboard and there were maggots in the bowl of bananas......I got rid of a bunch of food but there were like fruit flies almost flying around I tried to kill as many as I could. Do you think I'm gonna have a maggot problem now...my house is very clean

No. If you cleaned up the mess. They are gone. No more fruit no more fruit flies. If you put a little cup of cider vinegar on your counter the fruitflies will be attracted to it and drown. Good luck. Not to worry.

Yikes! I did the say thing only I forgot about a bag of potatoes that I left in my cupboard for about 6 months! I had the same problem with fruit flies....I kept seeing them flying around my house, but I couldn't figure out where they were coming from. Finally, I found that darn bag of potatoes waaaaaay in the back of a cupboard behind my rice cooker!

To get rid of the flies I fogged my place with a bug fogger, and I opened the cupboards. After that, the flies were gone and I didn't find any maggots. So, to answer your question, you will not have a maggot problem. Just properly clean the cupboard, throw away all food in that cupboard, and fog your house.

I think as long as the flies don't have a chance to produce their larva in anything, especially fruit and keep everything air tight you should be good.

Gosh I hate maggots, they are the sickest thing on this planet. They make me vomit when I see them.
bleh...
good luk!

They are not maggots - they are fruit fly larvae.
Get rid off the the fruit in the house [ the fruit out of the fridge, anyway. ]
Keep all fruit out of the house for one to two weeks.
[ Maggots only grow in meat - they keep wounds clean in battle conditions, so they are not all bad. ]

Nah. Just get rid of the rotting food and the flies will go elsewhere to lay their larva.
