Whether it is the Bible, the Koran or any other religious work its inspiration is claimed to be from God. But why should we believe those who make that claim?

Just because I write something and claim that a God granted me with that knowledge, doesn't make it so.

This is a very good question. The only way is to do some serious study for yourself and examine the claims. With the Bible it is easy, on first reading, to reject bits of it as mere legend, or whatever, but from the gospels you can see that Jesus upheld the truth of the old testament scripture. Also the apostle Peter upheld Pauls writings as inspired scripture in the same way.

You shouldn't believe it just because it is written. There has to be a proof that is personal enough to convince you it's the Word of God. For me that proof is in prophecy. Few religious books claim to be 100% accurate in prophecy. Only the Bible lives up to its claim.

Without some sort of proof, we shouldn't.

Anyone can claim that some god told them what to write. Much as Oral Roberts University President Richard Roberts, said God told him to deny a host of lurid allegations in recent a lawsuit. Who in their right mind would believe either?

We shouldn't believe it simply because it is written but we must prove to ourself that the writing is from a higher source & then we can put faith in what it says. Make an in depth examination into it, prophecies etc & make your own mind up

We shouldn't.

Try some Robert Anton Wilson instead, its just as much fun, you become a pope, but you don't have to devote your life to a figment of someone elses imagination.

I find it's rather ironic that some will believe a book that is 2000 years old, and was written by primitive men, than modern scientists who develop theories through observation and repeated experiments.

i am sure in a 1000 years time when someone finds a happy potter book in some cave they will think that story true as all the miracles he can do.

well when we believe in these things we put faith in them and to put faith in something it means to trust something or someone we dont know have no physical evidence we should believe in these things because of faith and hope if that makes any sense x
