I should note, until 3 weeks ago hardly any fur dropped and both her parents do shed very little. She eats Iams and gets brushed 1-2x daily. Curious if this could be adult fur coming in?!?

The weather is the most likely cause. Even short haired dogs blow their summer coat. My Rottie is doing the same thing right now. One thing you may want to try is Furminator. It helps release the dead and shedding fur and pull it out. You really only have to groom them about once or twice a year.

It could be a combination.Also,was she in heat yet? Dogs will sometimes lose hair just after or before a heat,and she should be coming into heat soon, if she hasn't already,unless you've had her spayed,which could also account for it,as any hormonal upset can cause heavy shedding.
