Jerusalem.

The capital of Israel, as defined by the Israeli government, is Jerusalem. And it has been since Palestine ceased existence, in 1948.

I checked my atlas, and Palestine does not exist, except as a city in Texas.

The State of Israel has chosen Jerusalem as its capital, with excellent historical justification.

It is as if I name my child Abraham and you insist on calling him Joseph.

It is up to the country itself to define its capital.

What is Palestine? When the Romans conquered Judea, they renamed it Palestine. Since then, no occupying power ever made it an independent state or established a capital in Jerusalem. Under the Ottoman Empire, it was part of the province of Syria.

Jerusalem is the Israel's capital city were the government resides. On 5 December 1949, Israel's first Prime Minister, David Ben-Gurion, proclaimed Jerusalem as Israel's capital, and since then all branches of the Israeli government—legislative, judicial, and executive—have resided there, except for the Ministry of Defense, which is located at HaKirya in Tel Aviv. At the time of the proclamation, Jerusalem was divided between Israel and Jordan and thus only West Jerusalem was proclaimed Israel's capital. In July 1980, Israel passed the Jerusalem Law as Basic Law. The law declared Jerusalem the "complete and united" capital of Israel.

Jerusalem is the seat of the Israeli government, so that is the capital. Most countries refuse to recognize this one way or the other until a final state agreement with the Palestinians, so they keep their embassies in Tel Aviv.

Jerusalem is the capital of Israel and a beautiful city. Ignore anyone who tries to tell you that the capital is Tel Aviv. Some people would prefer it was, but it isn't.

Jerusalem is the capital of Israel

It is Jerusalem. Israel has made it its capital and has never designated any other city as such.

Whether other countries accept it as such is irrelevant since such a decision is Israel's alone. Besides, the countries that do not recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital do not really recognize Israel as well. (Case in point: As to referring to a country by its capital, they will refer to Tel Aviv and not Jerusalem.)
