What does the Bible say about piercings or tattoos? I was thinking of getting a tattoo, but at this point I have no tattoos and no piercings, not even my ears. If you could give me the text/verse that would be great too.
And don't bother with anti-Bible, anti-God remarks. They're not helpful and I don't care.

Hi, try this link and see if this helps to answer the question. My opinion is, the heart and mindset is what God sees, not what we wear, drive, wealth, poverty, etc.

You have to do what you yourself is led to do and keep that between you and God if you so desire or not

The Old Testament law commanded the Israelites, “Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD” (Leviticus 19:28). So, even though believers today are not under the Old Testament law (Romans 10:4; Galatians 3:23-25; Ephesians 2:15), the fact that there was a command against tattoos should cause us to question. The New Testament does not say anything about whether a believer should or should not get a tattoo.

"Do not lacerate your bodies for the dead, and do not tattoo yourselves. I am the Lord." - Leviticus 19:28

Clearly, tattoos are forbidden by the Bible. Of course, the following two quotes are also found in the same chapter:

"Do not clip your hair at the temples, nor trim the edges of your beard." - Leviticus 19:27

"Keep my statutes: do not breed any of your domestic animals with others of a different species; do not sow a field of yours with different kinds of seed; and do not put on a garment woven with two different kinds of thread." - Leviticus 19:19

So according to Leviticus, tattoos are just as evil as trimming your hair short or wearing a cotton/polyester blend shirt.

Speak,
All I can think of at this point is the fact that 1 Corinthians 3:16-17 says "Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are."

We do know that GOD expected HIS People to have reverence for HIS Temple. Have a wonderful week.
Thanks,
Eds

1 Cor. 3:16...it describes your body as a temple...you wouldn't mark up a church...even with beautiful pictures, so you shouldn't mark up your temple (a gift from God). Earrings...eh...my church allows them....just one hole in each ear...that's it.. i mean, it's not a great big sin and you won't be excommunicated for it, but the church's prophet asked not to get any more than one in each ear...

if you want a piercing or tattoo, just do it. The only people who are worried by them are people who don't have them

Not recommended. However, the laws prohibiting this only apply to Jews. For Christians, there is no prohibition.
