THIS IS THE CHEAPEST WAY AN EMPLOYER PROVIDES DENTAL COVERAGE. IN SOME PARTS OF THE COUNTRY THAT'S OFFERED, BUT PATIENTS BY AND LARGE DON'T LIKE THEM. HEALTH MAINTENANCE ORGANIZATIONS DICTATE WHETHER SOME PROCEDURES ARE COVERED OR NOT.
DENTISTS ARE NOT PAID WELL. AND MORE AND MORE DENTISTS DO NOT TAKE HMO INSURANCE PLANS.

This in an in depth question so I'll try to keep it simple.

1: HMO-Health Maintenance Organization

There are a few choices for Insurance -HMO is usually the cheapest, so that's why people choose it.
But you lose freedom to chose other doctors besides your PCP and "in network doctors"
EX: You live in Smallville, NY
Your Insurance companies "in-network'' for Dr. has no approved docs in Smallville. The closest PCP is Jonestown, NY-45 minutes away. You have no choice- They will not pay for "out of network"
