The stomach does not produce bile, it's produced by your liver and stored in your gall bladder which will release the bile along with pancreatic digestive enzymes into your small intestine as you consume food (the bile aids in fat/lipid absorption). Some bile can end up in your stomach as a result of vomiting and not having any food when your body is signalling that you need/want some. Bile (known as bilirubin when it's first made in your liver) will be converted via bacterial action to urobilinogen in your GI tract, most will be reabsorbed but some will end up in your urine and stool (urobilin gives stool its brown color). If you see what looks like an oily/yellowish substance with your stool that's an indication of fat malabsorption, as it's coming out in your stool rather than being absorbed in your intestinal tract. It's impossible to tell from a mere description but lower back pain could mean kidney dysfunction but it could just be muscle pain from vomiting. You need to see a doctor so he can evaluate your urine/stool composition and diagnose any possible abnormal serum findings.

RE:
stomach bile in my stool?
I have been vomiting all day--nothing left in my stomach so all that's coming out is bile. I also have lower back pain and stomach cramps, and most recently, frequent bowel movements with what appears to be bile in my stool. Anyone know what could cause this?

Drinking excessive alcohol can contribute to bile in the stomach and in the stool. It has an oily, bubly look and is slick. Quite disgusting.

sounds like a viral infection which is a 24 to 48 hour bug..your not seeing bile in your stools that;s mucus because there is nothing in your bowel tract. if you dont have a fever..try drinking warm ginger-ale or jello.. The back pain could be due to something serious..keep a eye on your temp..if you start gettting a high temp go too hosp cuz it could be appendities...but if no fever the bug will take it's course..Good luck

Get to your doctor... What colour is this substance that is coming out of you? It may not be bile. Go to docs, no one over the internet can tell you what this is x

E coli or any of millions of other bacteria and virus that attack the gut. Watch for signs of dehydration. IV fluids will help you tremendously if you become overly dehydrated.

You need to go see your doctor. Your symptoms match a stomach condition called colitis. But you need to talk to your doctor to be sure.
