24 ct gold is pure gold, so 18 is 3/4 gold. 14 ct is 7/12ths.
14c will wear better over a lifetime because if is not as soft and will not wear away and get mishapen so easily.

The higher the carat number the purer, and softer the gold in the ring. I'd recomend going with 14 carat. My wedding set was 22 carat I bought in Saudi Arabia in 1990. The rings broke after about 2 years.

Over here in Australia, most wedding bands and engagement rings are 18 karat. I had not even heard of 14 kt until I went for a holiday in America. We are buying our rings from the USA...You guys have nicer jewellery. I am considering 14 kt altho 18 is the norm here.
We actually have 9 kt jewellery here too, usually dress rings and "friendship" (promise) rings are 9 kt then wedding sets are 18.
I have noticed that most US rings seem to be 14 kt, although they do offer an 18 kt option.

First the price. Second 18K is more of a pure gold than 14K is. Both look beautiful. 18K will break faster though, because Pure gold is soft....The more K the gold is the softer your ring is.

The higher the number, the 'softer' the ring. My rings are 14k yellow gold, and that's pretty standard. Men often get 10k because they're sturdier and resist scratching, etc. more.

18k gold has more gold content, and is softer, and is more expensive. Outside of that, it's a personal preference matter. Some people--myself included, can only wear 18k gold because it has less nickel or no nickel in it, because of allergies. I can't wear 14k gold--I'll break out.

hi,the difference between 14k and 18k is the higher the number is the softer the gold is,it is also more bend easier when its 18k than 14k,it's even bends easier on 24k.the price also gets higher as the k gets higher in number because their is more gold in 24k,than for example 18k or 10k.
