Force Recon Marines and Navy SEALs have very similar training. Their capabilities are virtually identical.
The SEALs have no advantage over Force Recon Marines with respect to water.
My opinion is that Force Recon Marines are better because they can accomplish with less than what the SEALs would require to accomplish the same mission.
There are no longer any active duty Force Recon Companies. The Force Recon mission, providing distant and deep reconnaissance as well as highly specialized direct action for the MEF commander is now tasked to the Deep Recon Platoons of the Recon Battalions. DRP Marines are Force Recon Marines.
Additionally, the same Force Recon mission, providing distant and deep reconnaissance as well as highly specialized direct action but for the DOD, is tasked to the Marine Special Operations Battalions (MSOB) of the US Marine Forces Special Operations Command (MARSOC). Reconnaissance-trained MSOB Marines are Force Recon Marines.

Check it out bro, Marine Force Recon was officially retired from service just over a year ago. Now it is Marine Special Operations. Along with the new name, we are also a part of the same command now as the Navy Seals. They however are still Navy ran and we are Marine ran or commanded for the most part. That's the short version of that.
Battalion Recon is still the same but have picked up a few added responsibilities and mission profiles.
So, back to your question, "Who is the Man"?...............as purely a matter of opinion, I believe from what I have seen and experienced the the Seals are the worlds best in the water. They do great things with in all aspects of water operations. However when it comes to land I have to say my fellow operators in MSOB are better. All that aside after being in that communities for a while you find that weather you are a Seal or MSOB operator, there is still something better THE CAG, these guys truly are the best there is.

Buddy, your still only 16... Most that go straight to bud/s get absolutely wrecked. Your better off enlisting infantry to get some experience and get into better shape before SF. Research the marines and the army to see which one suits you better. You see really naive. SF selection is made to make you fail and it's good that your confidence in making it but don't leave it at that. If your not working out right now; start. And don't stop or think that your "good until then". I'd get some combat experience in infantry then once you've seen the rough picture, make a decision if SF would be something for you because many people like you change their minds after they have some experience in the field. SF selection is 10% physical 90% mental so be sure it's something you really want to do as if your heart isn't 100% into it; you won't be selected. Man above me said it all.

Force Recon and SEALS compare well training and mission wise and even work interchangeably on missions. Force is made up of NCO/SNCO personal only and they usually come up from BN Recon.
I got out in 99 so things have changed and I'm sure someone will go into greater detail, but that's the gist of it.

totally different roles,
a seals excels at quick in quick out mission objectives
but if you wanted a smaller unit to take on a larger front line combat situation you'd want army rangers, but does that make them superior to a sniper team? who sit on there own for a week at a time usually in full view of the enemy with no ability to receive support ?, or even the most misunderstood of all special forces, the green Barret's, these men live with indigenous people and create revolutionary armies, with local dissidents, there missions last months at a time
but if you want to know who's the best, who is the baddest, it is delta force, you have to be a part of the special forces community before you can apply

Both are highly capable. I would say that Marines would have a slight advantage on land only missions. SEALS would have a huge advantage with anything to do with water.

it would depend on the scope of the mission, water based/land based, I would have to say that both are highly trained to perform their assigned duties to the best of their capabilities.
