Growing up in America was a life full of blessings and opportunity. As I watch our country fill up with new immigrants I have to wonder if they come here to change America or to join it? I see illegal immigrants carrying the Mexican flag in out streets in protest. I see Indians and Pakistani’s coming here by the millions to make America like their third world countries. We have to give up our traditions to accommodate them and to be politically correct al the time. America is a land of immigrants, but when my fore fathers came here it was to start a new life not to drag the old one to America. The word assimilation has no meaning to these new age immigrants and it is causing a great rift in America. I hate seeing 14 people living in a two bed room apartment. I hate seeing people form other countries taking advantage of our freedoms with out ever having to sacrifice for them. I hate unwanted house guests. I am writing this as message to immigrants. Be proud to be American.

It certainly doesn't seem that way. They want the benefits but don't seem to get there's a reason it worked here and not in the countries they are fleeing from. If I were to go to their homelands with the same attitude.....I'd be locked up or killed in no time. Our open-mindedness and tolerance is about to be our demise.

It just angers me that after decades and decades of work....to bring this country together and to start to right wrongs of past mistakes.....we are being flooded with people filled with hatred for everything we stand for and the people living here. I have never in my life seen such seperation and hate in my life. I really can't understand why anyone would even want to come to a country they so openly dispise and hate. Doing the very things 10x's worse that they claim to hate.

It's not scoot over and make room.....it's get out and give me and let me abuse you to my hearts content....not for what you have done.....but for some supposid infraction done ions ago, we are not a part of.

Thank heavens all aren't like that. Unfortunatly....too many more are.

Makes me feel I'm in a war where war hasn't even been declared. Not to mention having our government tell me what's happening right in front of me is somehow good. Smile pretty for the PC crowd while you're getting stabbed in the back.

Why is this a Democrat or Republicans problem ... nor is it about " Undocumented Immigrants " which is " Politically Correct " BS ... they are " Illegals " what part of " Illegal " does no one get and when People break the laws, they sure in the hell should not be rewarded ... but DEPORTED , period, end of story ! It's ONLY a political issue for politicians, businesses , etc cuz it involves more money, power & control ... DEPORT, DEPORT, DEPORT anyone and everyone not here LEGALLY no matter where they are from which is isn't just Mexico BTW, they just happen to be some the worst problems & there's more of them beings it's too easy for them to get here , stay & collect money even when they are " Illegal " !!!

Good message, but be careful not to generalize...Nota ll Indians come to drag their "third world" culture...there are A LOT of Indians who hold the highest positions in research/scientific fields...and as such many many more from different regions.

US wanted a global market (potential markets like India and China) and that is what comes with potential markets, trade agreements and so forth...

I'm sure it varies with the individual, and wouldn't hazzard a guess as to the proportions.

Assimilation is important, though, it's what divides an immigrant from a colonist or an invader.

Most of them have no intention of becoming Americans... thanks to an apathetic government, they don't have to. I mean really, why should they, we enable them to enjoy the benefits of America without having to pay taxes etc. Also as you stated, we give up our own heritage and customs to kiss the ass of people who really have no business being here. My grandparents came here from Italy and learned ENGLISH, started a business, paid taxes and assimilated. They continued to recognize their heritage, but not at the expense of others. They were proud to become American citizens and to contribute to this great nation.

They are not here to immigrate - they are just here for the money! We need mass deportations and a moratorium on all immigration.

To paraphrase TR - we have become the world's flophouse.

what the hell does that mean " be american?" I wish someone would explain that. Be indigenous??? They were the first ones here. or be British??? they settled here first. or be African?? we were brought here as slaves. or Be Irish or Italian or Asian, many immigrated here for better opportunities. America is America because of all the contributions that have been made from people of all walks of life. Or is being American mean becoming White Washed??? I would never sacrifice my own heritage for anyone or anything. I give respect to immigrants who have been able to adjust, not assimilate, who have been able to become members of our society while maintaining their unique cultures

You forgot to mention all of the rallies that believe illegals should have the rights as citizens. When in fact they don't have the right to be here in the first place!

I am proud to be American. I bleed red, white and blue.

I would die to defend what we stand for.

I myself do not understand wth they come here if they want a better life only to try to change us into what they are running from.
