Just tell them that you have a back problem, and if they are decent, they will respect you and not be a bother. But, about the big guy...he might not have been able to accomodate you, if he was quite as big as he sounds. But you also said he did spread out, so I would have said something to him too.

As for fat people, you need to contact your university and let them know the seats are not big enough for many Americans these days. It's a problem facing every theater-type setting and they need to hear about it.
If someone kicks or leans on the back of your chair, just turn around and say "Yeah? . . .Oh, I thought you were trying to ask me something." Then they'll get the hint that you felt it on your back.

I am also in college and I face this problem often. I'm too big of a wimp to actually confront them, so I usually just do a half turn and cut my eyes at them. Surprisingly this is often effective. That is more for people who are just being inconsiderate though, I would handle the big guy with a little more care.

Simply explain, "I'm sorry to bother you, but I have a back problem that makes my back hurt when I have to lean over like this. Could I trouble you to move over a bit?"
Or, you could get there early and sit on the back row.
In all seriousness, perhaps you could make arrangements with the professor, like you could bring a different chair from another room for you to sit on during class.

i could purely remark like "Aww i've got no longer watched this season. yet hi have you ever seen Glee?" or something and alter the project to a distinct television practice. that's a sprint fantastic that he watches it for the nice and cozy chicks... on the grounds that there purely is not any "warm chicks" on American Idol. He would desire to like lovable woman varieties over warm.

Say excuse me, and if they don't get it tell them they are making you uncomfortable. Any decent person will give you your space and feel contrite for causing you discomfort. Good luck.
