If you're saying like necktie it would be 'Corbata Negra' Buut if it's tie like in knot it would be 'Nudo *****'

Yes, "black tie" is "corabata negra"

Here in Argentina, if it's a formal event (such as a wedding)
we say in the invitation

"Elegante" = "Ellegant dressing required"
"Formal " = "Formal dressing required"

Actually, at least in Argentina, we do not say "Evento de corbata negra"

Nah, I don't think he means tie as in 'tie up', since he is talking about wedding invitations..

So just use 'Corbata negra'

corbata negra

or, if you're addressing an invitation, and you want to specify 'black tie' as the mode of accepted attire, then

traje formal

I dont like the term African American either, but we are stuck with it. It was created specifically for people like your mother. African American means Americans who happen to come from the continent of Africa.. Plus other groups dont put the American on the end..they just say stuff like "German"...Plus black can refer to any "black" person on the planet. African American attaches a culture to something.. I personally like "American black"...It attaches a culture, and its not a misnomer.
