and if you don't mind me asking, what religion are you...

The Bible teaches both; here are examples in just one book:

John 3:16"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

John 12:48 "He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him--the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day."

I'm just a Christian, not a member of any denomination

I'm Muslim and it actually teaches both... more on the loving side though. Punishment is eternal but you are given hundreds of ways to gain forgiveness. Islam teaches that God loves everyone more than humanly possible. All he asks is that you make a sincere effort to be a good person.

I am a muslim.
Our teachings tell us justice and mercifullness. If you do bad deeds and continue on doing them you will be punished as much as you did not less not even as much as an atom more than what you deserve.
BUT! It also teaches us that God is the most forgiving. No matter what you do he could forgive you for it as long as you believe he is the only God and as long as you stop doing the bad thing or deed that you have been doing and start compensating by good deeds. And as long you are not dead before you decide to stop.

Another thing of his forgiveness and mercifulness. Unlike how he judges people according to their bad deeds and treats them exactly as much as they diserve, when you do a good deed God doubles it many times out of his mercifulness just to give people a good chance to get rid of thier bad deeds and shows us how merciful he is. There are so many ways God made so easy for us to get so many good deeds that are doubled so we can become motivated and so we can be saved with his mercifulness.

There are so many signs of his mercy. One of the things God said to us, If you come to me with evil deeds as big as the earth and ask for my forgiveness I dont care and I will fogive all. God put his mercy 1st then his judgement. He also said that if humans did not do mistakes I would have taken them away and created a new race that would sin then ask for my forgivness. Just for the sake of showing his mercy.

But we cannot forget justice, there should be justice..if I would do horrible things like killing inocent people and ruin thier lives for example..its only justice that I should be judged for it.

THere are so many things to talk about its a huge topic so I'll just stop here.
Peace

I have a religion, yes. It teaches both. It teaches that God is the personification of love and that he is ready to forgive - when there is a basis for forgiveness. But he is also a God of justice - indeed, that is one of his cardinal attributes. Because he is a lover of justice, he does not withhold punishment when it is deserving.

The God I worship is a God of love, forgiveness, mercy, and justice. He is the King, the Lawgiver and the Judge.

Christianity teaches that God IS love. He made a way to remove our sins and has forgiven us. Those who receive His gift of salvation and forgiveness and eternal life, will spend eternity in an intimate relationship with Him. Those who don't receive His GRACIOUS gift will be judged because He is Holy and a God of Justice and must punish sin. If He didn't He'd be insane and life would be chaotic! So it's really a choice to put your faith the punishment His Son Jesus took or take the punishment yourself. Which will you choose?

Yes, I am a Christian!

God is a God of love and forgiveness to those who turn to Him in faith, and a God of judgment and punishment for those who refuse to turn to Him out of a sense of rebellion against Him.

Mine is Hinduism-Saivism.

The God according to our belief is made of love and forgiveness. He doesnt judges nor punishes.

A soul suffers cos of its wrong deed and enjoys as a result of its own good deeds.

One major reason, why we believe our thought about god is the right one cos, according to our belief there is no judgement day and bad souls going to hell and good souls going to heaven. We dont have that concept. Instead our God gives infinite chances to each and every soul (all souls and not just humans - from 1sense bacteria to 6sense humans) by giving many births to it, until it reaches the feet of god.

Father is a loving and forgiving God. He is also a God who Himself, is governed by laws. No matter how bad we are or unbelieving, He will always love us with a love we are incapable of understanding. However, the law must be fulfilled. That's why Christ suffered the sins of all mankind, to fulfill the law for us if we will but believe on His name, in what He taught and try our best to live by it.. Those who choose to not believe, even the ones who profess to believe, will need answer to the end of the law themselves because they chose not to partake of that which Christ offered them.

Both, Christian
You are also a person of forgiveness, judgment, and punishment. They do not contradict themselves.

You would forgive someone who did something to you, but would also punish your child for a wrong he did.
