I'm going to try these antidepressant over-the-counter drugs and before I buy, I was wondering if anyone has tried both and which one had the better overall effect? Please no answers telling me not to take it or alternatives, only a direct answer. I'm an adult and I know quite well about my own health.

Main effective use that I know of for fish oil is to help lower your triglycerides (a fat in the blood). It does work for that. I don't think it'll do anything for your depression.
Some people think that St. John's Wort has helped them. There are some scientific studies that say otherwise. If you try it, keep in mind that most antidepressants don't work right away, so you'll need a period of time to make a fair trial. Also when you are taking it, stay out of the sun or wear sunscreen because it can sensitize you to uv light and you can get a bad sunburn pretty fast. Also even though it's a herb, it's still a drug, so be sure to look up any possible interactions if you're taking any other herbs or medications.

St. John's Wort has definitely not proven to be effective under studies. I've never heard anything about fish oil but you can do some Internet research to find out whether there have been any _scientific_ studies conducted and what their results were.

Neither one of them was worth a damn for me.
