I would suggest "C" as the appropriate response.

You don't establish "individual" standards. You either have a standard for all or none at all.

Personality is important but not relevant.

Developing various standards...again...can be confusing to the subordinates therefore you maintain one standard for all...not individuals.

Going in to the field with the subordinate gives the supervisor first hand knowledge of the subordinates activities and enables the supervisor to make corrections and suggestions for improvement!

Just my opinion!

I don't like A. While it seems good in theory. But lets say you have a really good cop across the board and a really poor cop across the board. You are going to cut the bad cop some lack because he sucks at handling calls or SI activity?

B to a certain extent. If someone goes out and does a lot of car cops and is making good arrests off that, vs. someone who is in the park talking with kids and trying to prevent crime. Both guys are doing a good job. I think you might talk to both and make it a bit more balanced, but you shouldn't punish one or the other because they have different approaches.

C you should always do. Show up on calls with your officers and help out. Don't micromanage or be overbearing, but if you assist on a call or two, or a car stop, you take some of the load of them, plus you can see what they are doing and how well they are doing.

D what is JOV, I'm not understanding the answer......

All of them might have a ring of truth and they are all flawed somewhere. But if I had to pick one, I'd go with C

I don't like the first 3, but I don't know what "jov" is in the last option. Is it job?

None of them really look good because I believe the same standard should apply to every person within a certain position.

I don't have a problem with individual goals though, and actually like the idea.
