You've gotten a little bit of everything here- pro-joining, middle-of-the-road, against joining....

Ah, the joys of an open forum!

As a born-and-raised, practicing Mormon, the one thing I know for sure, without question is that God is the source of all truth, end of discussion. The Bible is a wonderful source for information about Him, what He's done for us, what He expects from us... as is the Book of Mormon.

Both books tell us that if we need knowledge we should go to God for it. (James 1:5, Moroni 10:3-5)

Both books tell us that God loves us and wants our happiness.

Both books testify that Jesus Christ (born of a virgin about 2000 years ago) is the Savior- not just for the human species collectively, but each human being, individually.

Everyone needs to be converted-changed.... that's what that second birth (when Jesus spoke to Nicodemus) is all about. It's about a change of heart, a change of focus, a change in behavior....

Talk to the missionaries, ask about their own conversions.
Talk to the members in your area, and aks them about their conversions.
Examine your own heart, see if your heart is really in this.

Being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints shouldn't be a social move.
It shouldn't be done to gain favor in another person's eyes.
It shouldn't be done because it's cool.
It should be done because you truly feel it's right, and true.

I'm sure you can guess how I feel, but your choices aren't about how I feel-- they're about how YOU feel.

Pray in sincerity, and your Father will answer.

Hi! this is not a good place to ask that because there are so many anti-Mormons and we are discriminated here by some.
To find out if that's the right decision, you need to pray, pray honestly and take your time. Remember that the spirit never lies. You will get an answer to your prayers, I know it. If you have questions, you can always email me at anytime or any of the other Mormons here, they are all really good. As a 7 months convert, I can tell you that you will feel way different and more paceful, you will feel closer to the Lord and you will love the church. We would love to have you in the church! and keep us informed about your decision. ^_^

Good for you in your search for the truth! The best way to find an answer to your question is to put these things into practice in your life. That is, read the scriptures, prayer to Heavenly Father, and ponder about the things you read and learn. Ask God if they be true or not. As you make this effort, the Holy Ghost will impress upon your heart and mind the truth of all things, including the truthfullness of what the LDS missionaries are teaching you.
As you make the effort, God will answer your questions.

Have you read and studied the Book of Mormon? Have you prayed about it? Have you received a witness by teh Holy Ghost that it is the word of God, like the Bible? do you believe that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God?

If you can say YES to all these, then you are ready to join.

Well, that is great. I suggest you go to the Lord in prayer if you are truly sincere and ask him if you should join. The Holy Ghost can testify to your heart and mind the truthfulness of all things - that is a promise to us. We each have the right to individually know the gospel is true, don't just take someone else's word for it - ask and know for yourself.
What to do if you join? Uh...attend church, become worthy to attend the temple...keep the commandments...I am not sure what you mean by "what to do"...
Good luck to you and may you be blessed.

The best advice I can give you is to trust in God not in man. Go ahead and pray. If you receive an answer that the Book of Mormon and LDS church is true, you will know that it is the right thing to do.

well with anything new it's important to have friends to be there who support you. attend all the activities. it's a good way to get to know people. most importantly, follow your heart. you feel that what they teach is true. don't let the fear and resentments of others dissuade you from what the Spirit has whispered to your heart and mind to be true. and keep asking questions like this. i'm sure you are smart enough to be able to decipher which of these people answering here actually know what they are talking about. you can always email me with any questions you may have.

Congratulations! I would continue to ask all the questions you have before joining. Be strong and do what you believe is right. Pray, Pray, and pray some more. Study hard and enjoy learning about the gospel.

The missionaries should have given you a copy of the Book of Mormon and suggested that you read it. Near the end, in Moroni 10:4, is a challenge they should have shared with you. It states: "...when ye shall receive these things, ... as God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost."
This is your personal invitation to personal revelation. You may know the truth for yourself, and then make your own decision. If you decide for baptism, the missionaries will guide you as to the next steps to take.

I have found that in many, many cases that before the missionaries first knocked on the door, the convert had a deep spiritual need. Heavenly Father knows even the unspoken prayer. If He answers your need, how can you not heed the call?
