They talk about cutting down emmissions, but even then the levels are so high that supposedly the ice caps are going to melt within the next hundred years. What then...is there going to be no cold anymore? No winters? Total heat and the world all dried up, most living organisms dying?

Or is this a cyclical thing, something that has happened before and we've survived through it? Would the greenhouse gases then be erased, like starting from scratch?

Do you think we may be able to find a solution that will remove some of the carbon/greenhouse gases from the air?

yes i find it worrying.but the government seems hell -bent on taxing the solution.

It is a cyclical thing, & I think the last one is where the DNA was funneled down to a narrow band. We all won't survive, but a few will & maybe be able to start again. We will not be able to stop global warming, & we *are* contributing to it, but it has been on it's way snce the last time it happened. Study geology if you want to learn. The world has been ending for a long time. The sun will eventually die out too, & explode & take out a whole bunch of planets too, why do you think we have been looking to the stars for so long! People who shut space travel down are the ones who are/will be killing the species. Because it isn't/wasn't imminent, they couldn't see why we were going to the moon! We can try to clean up the air, but it won't stop the warming. The planet wobbles & the poles reverse, & the world will be different, but it may still support life, till the sun goes away. Then, depending on your religion, you will come back, or be in heaven or hell! Chose what you do well!

Haven't heard any screaming about it.

No, the WORLD isn't ending. But climate change will have dire effects; those effects are already starting.

If you really want to know the preditions (none of which you've gotten right, no one who knows what they're talking about says any of the things you list as consequences), here's a web site on the topic, from a science news site:

http://environment.newscientist.com/channel/earth/climate-change/

As for the question of solving it, that depends on whether enough of the right people understand what's happening and what needs to be done.

No, this isn't a cyclical thing, as we've been dumping CO2 and other gunk into the atmosphere; no other critters have done that. Nothing like it has happened on Earth since the First Great Pollution (plants dumping free O2 into the atmosphere, making animal life possible).

Put your head out through the window ...

Can you hear the "Baaaaaaa" "Baaaaaa" "Baaaaaaaa" of the sheeple? Doesn't it sound like what you are hearing regarding global warming?

Warming is merely a cycle that the planet goes through every once in a while. Just like Ice Ages. After all, SOMETHING had to melt all that ice, didn't it? If science has proven anything recently, it's the fact that we are STILL in the warming phase that followed the LAST Ice Age and who knows when it is going to end. Certainly NOT with the destruction of the earth. There WILL be another Ice Age ... after all, SOMETHING has to cool off the earth ... RIGHT?

I don't know if you are old enough to remember, but that was the LAST scare that the chicken-littles of the world would have had us fall for ... global cooling, back in the 1960s and early 70s. We were all going to freeze to death that time. That scare, too, made the cover of TIME magazine.

In an extreme case, in hundreds of years, it IS possible that the ice caps would melt completely, at least in summer. But there will still be snow and ice in winter near the poles. And not only will the world not dry out and kill all life, but rainfall will greatly increase as more water evaporated from the oceans fills the air with water vapor. That water vapor will not be lost to space, it will rain back on the Earth. Global warming DEFINITELY means more rain world wide.

Nobody know for sure, but either way, isn't it worth looking into? What I don't understand is the people who are completely ignorant about science, and tell everyone to not pay attention to the warning signs.

The melting of the polar ice caps is pretty unprecedented and an undisputable fact for all those people who say that there's nothing unusual going on with global warming.

that's a cyclical factor, & i think of the final one is the place the DNA became into funneled all the way down to a narrow band. all of us won't proceed to exist, yet some will & perhaps be waiting to start returned. we isn't waiting to stop international warming, & we *are* contributing to it, although this is been on this is way snce the final time it occurred. learn geology in case you elect to income. the international has been ending for an prolonged time. The solar will ultimately die out too, & explode & take out lots of of planets too, why do you think of we've been attempting to the celebrities for see you later! people who close area holiday down are people who're/would be killing the species. with the aid of fact this is not any longer/wasn't coming near near, they could no longer see why we've been going to the moon! we are able to attempt to freshen up the air, even though it won't stop the warming. The planet wobbles & the poles opposite, & the international would be distinct, even though it might help existence, till ultimately the solar is going away. Then, counting on your faith, you will come again, or be in heaven or hell! chosen what you do nicely!

If those is positions of power would have listened to scientists and environmentalists/conservationists 30 years ago this may have been different. But NOOOOO! They were alarmists and tree-huggers! Hardy har har what a bunch of hairy granola-crunching FREAKS! Convenience is/was just too important. Well how convenient is extinction and catastrophic disasters/illnesses? I think that humans have done too much damage and continue to do so beyond the point of being able to turn it back. We will have to live somewhere else or (probably more like "and") become extinct. When we do this, the earth will go back to being the way it was before. Then perhaps, as I believe has happened many times before, humans will appear on the scene to eventually make the same ludicrous decisions and destroy themselves all over again.

The warming trend is not entirely due to increased levels of greenhouse gas, and it is not entirely due to natural climate change. In my opinion, this is mostly due to the change in climate, but it is a convienient political pedestal for some politicians. We do need to take steps to decrease the amount of carbon dioxide that we release into the atmosphere, and we have taken some steps. But, there is no plausible 'right' answer. But, no, the world is not ending.

There is something obviously happening,,seeing the sattelite imagery of the before and after effects is proof enough.
What its all from could be an assortment of things,,Greenhouse and carbon emmisions,,Ozone,,etc.
The problem is getting the leaders of our nations to think outside of their wallets,,,,people are so nieve that it will probably too late for them to react,,,Whether we can reverse it is left to be seen,,but I don't think people will fully get the picture until it affects them personally,,their way of life,,,then it will probably be too late.
They care only about what it will cost,,not the cost of our lives or survival,,its all about leaving it to the next guy,,,shows how we as a species is still in our infancy,,too young to see whats going on,,,we will be forced one day to grow up and do something about it,,,just really hope its not too late,,thats if we even have the power to do anything about it.

Actually, the only proven cause of climate change are aircraft.

When they were removed from the sky over North America, because of 9-11, the temperature quickly reverted back to pre-1950s over the US diurnally.

Sadly, because they plan to triple flights by 2020, something catastrophic could happen in our lifetime.
