why are the charismatics (i.e. Pentecostal) the only ones that he chooses to knock down / paralize and/ or induce seizures in, as well as causing them to babble incoherently? I have heard some conservative factions credit Satan for this behaviour. I find it confusing. What say you?

I feel that it is very dangerous to say that these gifts are of the devil. I am stating that this is what I have heard from Baptists. I feel that if that many people lay claim to this, there must be something to it. Why don't the others partake or welcome it?

I say, you need to read the book of Acts in the New Testament and see how the early church came into being,,,find out if they spoke in tongues, and maybe you need to tell Paul,,,that you can't be slain in the spirit,,he might just disagree....Seizures...as you put it,,,is letting the Holy Spirit come on you in such a way that you feel his presence very intensely....some people shout for joy....it is true.....I say read the Bible...as most who go to church, never do get around to it...they just let the preacher tell them what to believe...and you are just quoting things you have heard without a shred of personal knowledge..

The Holy Spirit isn't just for the charismatic types, He's for everyone. He works through the type of character that we are, He will never cause us to do anything that we're not ready for. For instance, I know some Christians that can't speak in tongues, not because the holy spirit hasn't given it to them but because they haven't asked for it or they feel too embarressed to try it. Even the most shy Christians can eventually speak in tongues when the holy spirit knows they're ready.

Well, it is not only that they do that. There is also the fact that the claim they get new Revelations about the Bible through this fits.
Now, you may get increased knowlege of understanding by reading the Bible, You are not going to get any new word from religious experience.
My advice is to avoid the cults you mentioned.
The Holy Spirit is in fact real, and part of the Godhead according the the Bible.

I think these groups have taken the Bible to the extreme level...it is just more proof to me that you can baisically defend anything with the bible...which is what makes it such an entertaining read. I mean these people (charismatics evangelists) are just absolutely hilarious to me...partly because they are SO serious about what they believe and partly because of WHAT they believe..it is a great combination. It is also a great psychological experiment to see how far people are willing to go because "god told them to" or "because it says so in the HOLY BIBLE"
can i get a hallelujah?

They read in Scripture the examples of people who receive (or have) the Holy Spirit speaking in tongues, and conclude this is the proof of having the Holy Spirit.
It is also easy to fake and look spiritual even if you are not.
So you see their gymnastics in their services.
Look at the bright side... at least they save the cost of going to a health club.

Speaking tongues in the thing the apostales in the bible did when the Holy Spirit came to the on the day of Pentacoast. We cannot be apostales today. All the things they do is not neccesary for salvation. Just forgiveness.

I say you should be careful in your search and guard your heart, let God be the judge.
We have His Word to live by and practice daily; doing that alone takes all my resources.
It is a dangerous thing to tread where we do not belong, i.e. in the judgment seat of Christ.
Far too many try to take on this responsibility not realizing they bring swift judgment to themselves in the process.
