Mayonnaise is made from eggs and oil (real mayonnaise anyway). The warning is for people who are allergic to eggs, and also to warn you not to leave it out at room temperature, as you can with some of the artificial substitutes, or anything made just with oil (like margarine).

Some mayonnaise does not contain eggs.
there are people out there with food allergies and it is not always obvious that a product contains a certain ingredient. The USDA makes manufactures label the more deadly allergens like peanuts and eggs.

In the UK it is a legal requirement that all products containing certain ingredients, including eggs, are labelled as such for allergy reasons.
That's also why a pack of peanuts tells you that it contains nuts!

because all true mayonnaise by definition must have eggs in it. it is an emulsification of oil and raw eggs. Anything else is a substitute and cannot be called mayonnaise.
