I think both sides need some PR advice, but do you think the approach of the masked protesters is going to further their cause with the populace?

George, surely the Pope doesn't use them because they slice and dice people with power saws... yeah, I must have missed that story...

Guess you must have missed the article today where several Swiss recently attempted to slice and dice an African with a power saw.

Did you really think the Swiss were all yodeling mountain climbers eating their chocolate? Why do you think the other Europeans have left them in peace since Napolean? Do you think the Pope uses them for bodyguards because they look so quaint in those costumes?

Hard to say how much it will hinder or help their cause. But these days Europe is going through some serious rethinking about what all this global immigration really means for them. Some of the reactions are far from pretty. Not everyone thinks the US should be their role model on this.

DAR: No, not power saws, just those long handled meat cleavers they like to carry, their pikes. Here's a link to the other story I was talking about in today's Washington Post:

Immigration seems to have become the hot button in most of Europe as well as the United States. Politicians need to wake up to this.

And, DAR, yes, any time protesters feel the need to appear masked, they need to rethink their tactics.

Given the term "populace" is highly pejorative, the sense of your question is somewhat ambiguous. The masked protesters had to be given the statutory treatment. But then, this is Switzerland...

SVP looks like it will lock up a big win in parliamentary elections and immigration as it is here will be a bigger and bigger hot button issue in Europe especially when terrorism is thrown into the mix.

I hate to gloat, but it is actually kind of funny to see smarmy Europeans getting all in a tizzy because some black folks are moving in.

Next thing you know, they'll be setting up crack houses and spicy chicken shops, crime rates will go up, and suddenly those neanderthals in America won't look quite so stupid after all.
