Its pretty consistent and I've had this dream around 5 - 6 times. The scenarios/settings are always different but the theme is the same:
I am taking off in a commercial jet, just as I've done the 6 times I crossed the ocean. The plane doesn't seem to be able to achieve altitude and then it starts to fall from the sky. Usually it will turn on it's side. I most often wake up from fright before anything major happens, but one time I stayed asleep and the plane crashed landed on the highway. I made it out without a scratch.
I love travel, but every time I think about getting back on a plane my pulse begins to race. This fear came about when I was 15. I crossed the pond for the fifth time heading to Italy. I stayed awake for the 24hr trip because I was scared. It was the same when I returned at the age of 18. When I was a kid, I loved to fly. I loved it with a passion. In fact, I thought I would become a pilot. I'm about to take a trip to Colorado and I would like some reassurance. TY!!

Airplanes, cars, trains, any mode of transportation in a dream is a representation of the dreamer and their life on a whole.

This dream is recurring, not just one time, so it is more than likely reflecting a life theme, or a core belief, that is being processed by your subconscious dreaming mind. With that said, lets analyze it.

You have a lot of ideas and creative thoughts (as symbolized by the choice of airplane to represent your life.) But, you lack lack faith in yourself and in your abilities. (As symbolized by the inability to achieve altitude.) Just when you are getting off the ground, or getting your ideas into motion, you fall out of the sky. I am willing to bet that you start a lot of projects and don't finish them, probably artistic in nature. You don't leave these projects incomplete because of laziness or anything, its just that you are probably a harsh critic and think whenever you are doing is doomed to failure.

Flying over the ocean, the water, is a sign from your subconscious to trust your intuition and follow your heart, since water is related to instincts, gut feelings and emotions. If you can learn to trust yourself and your own genius, you will find a safe landing.

Hope this helps.

It sounds as if you want to fly high, have high hopes and aspirations, but for some reason, you just aren't able to achieve the high standards you have set for yourself. Falling from a great height shows your fear of failure. The plane getting sideways could show that the path is askew or off kilter in some way. The one time you landed safely you landed on a highway, or you had a clear path to follow out of danger and came out unscathed. Since you have had a love of flying from an early age it stands to reason that you would use the flying scenario in your dreams to take account of your life and how it is going.

I used to have these dreams often; it was because I was terrified of planes, and them crashing. Then a couple months ago, I had to go to Florida, and take a plane. I was really scared, because I had just had a dream about a plane crashing. But after I had ridden it to and back from Florida, I didnt have these dreams anymore; I'm guessing because I found out there was nothing really to be afraid of.

Even though I say dreams mean something all the time, I think my dreams and your dreams mean that were just afraid of planes crashing. I trust that you will be fine. Plane traviling is the safest way. YOU WILL BE FINE.

I've had similar dreams and they're awful! The thing about plane crashes is that one never feels in control. We usually don't fear traveling by car because we're usually driving and are somewhat in control but in a plane we are at the mercy of another. We are forced to put our faith in their skills, abilities, experience and teamwork to get us somewhere far away and far above the earth. When we worry about flying we're worrying about letting go and letting them do their job. It's a trust issue really.

Sounds to me like you're afraid you don't have the power to fulfill your aspirations. You're afraid you're going to crash and burn. BUT you survive in the dream because a part of you knows you really won't completely fail. I suggest you pursue something you're interested in whole-heartedly and master it. This is a way of confronting the fear and I bet as you get more confidence in the thing you want to do most, the dream will become less frequent. I don't think it's about literal flying, it's about being able to rise to the occasions your life presents to you.

I say the nightmare will become less frequent because these things don't simply vanish. I've had a few recurring nightmares myself, and when I'm stressed about some of the bigger themes in my life, one of the recurring nightmares presents itself. The good news is my recurring happy dreams re-visit me, too, when things are going well!

All I can offer is, who doesn't dream of that? I crash about once a month, usually associated with personal growth. It's probably just a way of our subconcious fear finding a plausible theater to play out in.
