I had to restore the connection between my laptop and desktop wireless connection. Following the XP set up wizard, I am able to see the files from my Desktop on my Laptop and access them, but I cannot see my Laptop files on my Desktop. I used a flashdrive to install the connection files, so I'm not sure what the problem is. Any suggestions?

I checked and both names are the same. "MSHOME".

Followed steps outlined by Tracy. Everything is fine until step three. I did a search and the laptop shows up, but it says "network path was not found". Which I suspect is the whole problem. That is why I thought I was using the flash card to set everything up. So it copied the network set up.

Several things to check. Since you know the workgroup is the same, check the network connection (control panel---> network connection---> the adapter your using) be sure that "file and printer sharing" is listed and enabled.

Second check that a folder on each machine is shared, from network places you will only see shares nothing else.

If you still don't see the Laptop files from the desktop in network places. click the left menu where it shows "View Workgroup Computers" The click on MSHOME and see it your laptop shows. If not check BOTH units firewall settings!

Other than that you should be working.
Network connection.. file and printer sharing... network shares and a firewall set to allow is usually the things that keep LANS from working.. In the worst case try searching for the computer from the search tab using the IP or the computer NAME. (Both computers do have to have a different name.)

ADD
If the network path isn't found, it sounds like the laptop does not have any shared folders or doesn't have file sharing enabled. Either its firewall or the shares need to be rechecked.
Good Luck

Try making your WORKGROUP thesame. you can do that by going to my computer, properties click Computer Names then Click on change . normally the workgroup name is WORKGROUP. Try making it thesame on both of your computer.
