My husband and I have been married for 17 months and his paperowkr never got switched to Married status, so we're told we are entitled to backpay.

What is the difference in pay from a single to married soldier of the same rank and years of service? Is there a website with the payscale?

there is no difference in pay. the only he thing he became entitled to after you got married was BAH at the with Dependent rate, and in most cases, the difference is minimal. most often it is less than $200/month.

If you have been living in Military Family Housing, the point is moot. you forfeit BAH/send the entirety to allotment depending on how the housing office is run and would be entitled to no backpay whatsoever.

Only difference is in you BAH, (Basic Allowance for Housing). If you have dependants, you receive BAH with depedent rate, if not you receive the single rate.
You should take your marriage certificate to your Military Pay and resolve this issue. Would be entitled to back pay under the right circumstances. If you were living off base the entire time, not in any type of government quarters.

All other pay is the same, single or married does not matter.

His pay will be the same regardless if he is married or single. The only thing that can get him a with dependants allowance is the housing allowance. He will only get this if he was authorized and does live off base with you. If you live on base in base housing his pay is correct. Why were you married nearly two years without making sure all his paperwork was squared away. He needs to take his original marriage certificate to his admin office and get things fixed like his Page 2 which is a lot more important than the back pay you are hoping to cash in on.

There is no difference in pay for married and single soldier. What they are talking is your housing allowance. Some single soldiers, not living in the barracks, are reimbursed for living off-post. A married soldier automatically gets a housing allotment, whether he is living off-post or not simply because he is married, and it's higher than the single rate.

He will get BAH with Dependents...instead of without Dependents...if he has been getting his BAH and Separate Rats...then it will be about a few hundred dollars a month difference...go to DFAS's web page to see what the BAH is in your area...

Go to www.armytimes.com. Click on Benefits, then click on Pay and Allowances. You should be able to get a good idea of what his pay should be before taxes.
