No, it shouldnt hurt you, unless you are a diabetic. That's what a balanced diet is all about, eating healthy most of the time, so yo can have some goodies, sometimes!! mmm that sounds good too, carrot cake w/ milkshake, yummy!

Depends on what once and awhile means. It takes 3,500 calories to gain a pound and that can rack up pretty quickly when eating sugary snacks, especially if you are insulin resistant. I can eat an entire carrot cake if I let myself but a peanut butter cheese sandwich fills me up. The milkshake is especially insidious as it doesn't stay in your mouth to be chewed and you can get overfull before your brain registers it.
Moderation is the key, and be aware of portions.

There's no such thing as forbidden foods. Everything is OK in moderation. But if you start eating that every morning, it will eventually start to take its toll.

As long as your diet is mostly healthy, you can always slip in some guilty pleasures. In fact, some diet experts would say that it is actually beneficial to have junk once in a while since it keeps you satisfied enough to stick to your diet. Otherwise, if you just eat salads, there's a chance you'll get so irritated by how much you're depriving yourself that you'll quit your diet altogether and just go in a full-blown junk eating binge.

Of course not. Don't listen to the food fascists; they seem to want to take all the fun out of food. Food is meant to be enjoyed. If your weight is about right and you are generally well the odd treat now and then is perfectly OK.

I really don't think that is a question, but if you consider that Weight Watchers is one of the most popular (and successful) weight loss programs going, and they allow you "bonus" points every week, just in case you need them, then your statement would be correct. I have lost 20 lbs in one month on WW, and occasionally, I do need that greasy burger, or that mound of ice cream. And, i am still losing weigh.

of course not, its actually necessary to eat bad sometimes. if you deprive yourself of things that you want, you'll just overeat it later. eat your carrot cake, sip on some milkshake, and enjoy it guiltlessly. just do it in moderation:)
