my friend is a kite expert. He is good at making the usual thread/rope kites. But one day he said that with the help of a toy aircraft engineer, he could build a remote controled kite.
is he just kidding me ?

Hi. You need resistance to the kite's drag. I launched a kite into the ocean once with a sand pail tied to end of the string. The pail provided drag as it went through the water. May still be going!

A remotely controlled kite would be great in one way - looking at it - but not much fun to fly!
No technological reason for it not working but I do wonder about the purpose of the exercise.
However many "barmy" projects have had unthought of use spin offs, Go for it!
