I want to sell my wedding dress but no one seems to want it. I have it posted on Craig's List and I have asked everyone I know and I still haven't came up with anything. It's not like it's an old rag or anything. I bought it a little over a year ago and it's been sitting in my closet ever since.
I have had 2 women interested in buying my dress but the first one made me a victim of fraud and the second seems to want to do the same.

I never got married and never had an opportunity to wear it for an extended period of time.

ebay

Have you tried ebay? You might also do a classified listing in your local paper. I can tell you though, you're going to get a fraction of what you paid for it re-selling it yourself. Remember, a bride can get a brand new gown at David's Bridal for under $500 without trying too hard.

If you just want to get it out of your closet, you might consider donating it to a community or college theater group. I know as a costumer when we have a show that requires a wedding dress, I start freaking just a little bit. That way you could take an income tax deduction for the donation--and it would probably be more than what you'd be able to sell it for. Just a thought. Good luck!

Do not despair, what you are experiencing isn't strange. For most regular people, purchasing or owing a wedding dress is a very SPECIAL thing. Only financial considerations and sentimental reasons would compel FEW toconsider buying a used dress (notwithstanding if it was only put on for a few seconds). The fact that it belonged to someone else is a put off for MOST.

I think instead of trying to sell it yourself, try
1. Asking a bridal shop/outfit/whatever to sell it for you. (the place you bought it from is a start.
2. Sell it to the bridal shop. They could make it part of their rentals.
3. Or like Laura said u could try ebay.

(Err in case u r getting freaked out ... the silhouette against my name is wrong. I'm female)

If you're having trouble selling the dress, I'm guessing that you're asking too much money for it.

Try eBay or keep posting it on Craigslist, but don't expect to get much for it.

Or maybe you should donate it to Goodwill or the Salvation Army. Some underprivileged bride that may not be able to afford a new dress can still look beautiful on her wedding day, and the proceeds will go to a good cause.

try E-Bay. You could either post a starting bid and see how high it goes, or if you know about how much you want to get for it, you could use the "Buy it Now" feature. Also, if you offer free shipping or include the shipping into the Buy It Now price, you may have a better chance of selling it.

Are there any boutiques in your area that buy used wedding dresses or a consignment shop, look into this as most cities do, or go to the nearest large city near you. Have you tried ebay as well?

ebay - and local newspaper listing - the bad part about selling a wedding dress is, that if it was altered for your body, it may be difficult to sell. Best of luck selling it

Ebay, maybe... but you can't expect more than 25% of the retail price.

But this is also the SLOWEST time for wedding sales. I have mine at a consignment shop and she doesn't expect much traffic until February at the earliest.

Put it on ebay. If you are still married make sure you tell people that. Many people don't want a dress from a bad marriage. Bad Omen.

Here is a new idea. Find a consignment shop that will give you a percentage of the dress when it is sold. They do that.

Or you can e-mail me your size and a picture of the dress. I might like it!
