Because for so many years it was the only Bible available and people believe that other translations are false. People for the most part do not understand that the KJV was the translation authorized by King James and that if he did not like what the translation was he ordered it changed.
Many of the newer translations have started with the earliest manuscripts available and been translated directely into English. The KJV had been translated several times from language to language. We all know that when you translate from one language to another small differences are made. Seldom is there a direct translation. After translation from one language to the third there will be some difference. Some things will be lost or gained.
I think that many Christians are now becoming more open to some of the newer translations now.

People believe that the King James Version is the only true version of the Bible for one of two reasons. First, it is by no fault of their own, and were misguided into believing that any other translations of the same stories are false. Secondly, it is by their own laziness, and intellectual stagnation because they didn't pay attention in high school world history, and missed the whole thing about the English religious wars, and King James I of England took power in 1604, during the height of England's religious struggles, and the Protestant bishops approached him and asked that the Bible be rewritten to better suit their theology. It took until 1611 for the revisions, interpretations and preparations for printing to be completed. King James authorized the changes in the Bible as a way of solidifying his power, and gaining support of the Protestant clergy, a strong force in England at the time.
On a side note, there is no "correct" version of the Bible. The Bible is actually a collection of many different books from multitudes of authors, some known, some unknown. Here's something else...the Bible didn't exist until the 300's AD, when all of the books were compiled into a codex in Rome. It wasn't until 397 that the books were "canonized" or made official. Prior to, there were dozens more books to the Bible, some with stories that contradict those that appear in the modern Bible. Also, with all Bibles, there is something lost in translation...

As far as it being the best English language "translation" I would agree... There is no inerrant text of The Bible existant today... in any language... There are few English translations that have given as much care to the effort of translation as did those who actualy did the work of the KJV... many alterations of the KJV have weakened it over the years... the so-called NKJV is NOT The KJV... many"translations" are bad...NIV, NWB for examples... and the worst of the lot, The Message bible, which is an abomination.... probably the best of the so-called modern English Bibles would be the New American Standard ( up dated) (NASV) . stick with the NASV and the KJV.

Coz they say, the KJV Bible is the closest translation of the bible from its original, though it's not right to say that coz it doesn't matter how close it is from the original, it's still translated by humans and there's a big possibility of human errors in it coz even a misplaced coma or a period would have a big effect on how people interprets the bible.

All 73 versions of the Bible contain "text differences" not only translation differences,
So Christians have to scrutinize "words of Jesus" from all that stuff, and follow those,
Otherwise we will continue seeing Christians becoming Atheists.

St.Jerome translated both the Old and New Testaments from the orginal texts into Latin around 394AD, I think the KJV therefore has no claim to be the one true bible.

It's probably because it is the oldest English version of Scripture that we have that is taken from the Textus Receptus (Received Text) that was written in the original Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek. There are some older copies that certain modern versions are taken from, but they are bad copies, containing crucial errors. Which is probably why they survived so long - nobody used them! The ones which were authentic copies were repeatedly used until they were worn out, then new, certified copies were made.

because that Bible comes from the true manuscript, called the Majority Text.
Other bibles are counterfits, they are from the Alexandrian text.
Many people argue about the translation, but the fact is they are totally different manuscripts.
The Alexandrian Text was created in Egypt, from a cult called the Alexandrians.
