If your last name changed because of marriage then take a copy of your marriage certificate, just in case. More than likely you will need documentation when you check in to board the ship and once they are satisfied as to your identity you will not need to carry any further documentation. The cruise line will issue you a cruise card which is the size of a credit card and is used as your cabin door key, you charge card for anything you buy on the ship, and your pass to get on and off the ship. You can carry your driver's license with you along with the cruise card and that will be all that you will need.

CAUTION: There will be new rules for cruising starting January 1, 2008 which will require that you (EVERYONE) have a US passport to re-enter the US. So if your cruise is completed before December 31, 2007 you are OK. But if your cruise is next year, you MUST get a passport.

Nothing is ever free. I took the very same cruise 2 yrs ago, a friend "won" it when she lived in Tampa. It sounds shady but they are unfront about the fees. It was my first time going to the Bahamas and I had a blast! Of course it's nothing fancy but what the heck, you get to lay on a beautiful beach in the sun. If this is a good deal or not depends on a few things. Do you have to fly to Fort Lauderdale to catch the cruise ship? If so I recommend just flying to Freeport and saving yourself a day of travel you could better spend just laying on the beach. The Discovery Cruise is hideous, crowded, and very often delayed, although the food was good. It gets kinda boring and it takes like 4 hrs to get down there. Also they put you up in an $80 a night hotel so with all the fees you pay really you do end up paying for your hotel in a way. The hotels are not that bad, definitely nothing fancy but they are tidy and of course the people are very friendly.

You cannot change the name on your birth certificate.
You will need that only for this year to get to the Bahamas. Starting January 1st - you will need a passport.

You can't change your BIRTH name on your birth certificate.... BUT, you WILL need a PASSPORT to go to the Bahamas so get one quickly!!! Also, if your name change was due to a marriage, bring your MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE with you to show you were married...if it was due to a court order (where you REQUESTED a name change in court) bring a copy of that order to prove how your name was changed.... that's all there is to it..

I don't think you can change your birth certificate. Just make sure you have a certified copy. Most women have different last names because of marriage so it shouldn't be a problem.
