I mean, a whole, disparate, group of people who don't have to get together once a week to convince eachother they're still right... What in the heck? How do you control THAT?

Sooo, if theists don't fear atheists, why the laws about atheists not being allowed to hold public office? And why all the references to Pol Pot, Stalin, and trying to MAKE Hitler an atheist?

lol well if they are really secure in their religion then no but if they have doubts then yes. i know a girl who is very secure in her religion but is interested in all sorts of other religions. she believes in christianity but knows all about catholicism, ancient egypt, science and various others. she is not threatened by any other religion because she believes hers is correct but she finds all others worthy of study.

If it's true that the truth hurts then Athiests are a metaphorical shot in the head. But really it's just that deep down under that life of social pressure to believe the ridiculous almost every Religious person knows the whole God thing is a delusion, And the facts that Athiests keep bringing are a threat to that.

Not at all. Atheism by definition is neutral. It simply means not theistic. That very very often gets confused with anti-theistic even by people claiming to be atheists. At least half a dozen times a day I see the word misdefined by theists and non-theists. That one letter seems to be the most difficult thing for people to understand.

Before recently finding my calling here on YA ;-) which seems to be explaining the meaning of the prefix 'a' I didn't even think about religion on an average day.

And no I didn't come here to fight, make fun of others or convert people particularly since you really can't convert anyone to atheism for the reason that it's neutral. You could possibly un-convert someone but I'm not even wanting to do that.

I say to everyone - follow the golden rule. Believe what you like and let me... not. Don't try to convert me because aren't you simply inviting others to "do unto you"?

Are you talking about going to church?

The only threat is hatred. Not all atheists hate and as a Christian I can say a lot of Christians do hate (though Christ's teaching are to love and forgive everyone.

I think labeling is getting out of control like putting a bunch of people in a category when we are all categorically, religiously, personally, etc different.

It's like saying all people with straight blonde hair wear green hats.

No.
I find it funny that some one spends so much time trying to prove there is no God.
Does any one spend time as a group trying to prove there is no Easter Bunny?
No.
So in my humble opinion, any group of people that spends so much time trying to prove there is no God must accept at some level there is in fact a God. They are like lawyers, that know who the witness will be, trying to come up with a way to discredit a wittiness. Because they know the testimony is true, but they hope to avoid the consequences.

"...a whole, disparate, group of people who don't have to get together once a week to convince eachother they're still right..."

Heck, you guys get together more often than that. You're here on R&S daily.

But to answer your question, no, we shouldn't feel threatened. Is it your intent to make us feel that way?

Ephesians 6:12:12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

Depends on the weapons chosen. Since most often it is intellect, the theists are left defenseless.

I don't want to control anyone! I don't fear atheists. I would like to have my beliefs respected..but it isn't necessary. I think that understanding comes through knowledge. If we can have an honest dialogue, then no one has to fear anyone.
