I look at it this way.........I'm there to earn a living........Put food on the table, roof over my head and clothing on my back........I don't live with the people there, I only work with them........They're not family and probably not real friends but co-workers instead.........When the work is exciting the workday passes quickly and that's always a big help in getting thru the "other" things (like the jerks) a whole lot easier...........That having been said I would definitely quit the job with the boring work..............GOOD QUESTION!!!!.......CAT

Let me tell you, I left the job with the fun boss and doing the EXACT same work I am doing right now. I left for more money and insurance, and found out that all of my fellow co-workers are a bunch of "backstabbing, gossiping, flighty, moody, hateful, full of drama" people. And that's putting it mildly. I do a GREAT job, I love my job, I just can't stand any of the people I work with. Trust me, the stress of being an outcast, and dealing with these people on a daily basis wasn't worth more money and health insurance. I would go back to my old "FUN" boss for half the money, in a HEARTBEAT !! Take the job with the fun co-workers and try to make the boring JOB challenging. Invent and create ways to make it not boring.

I'd leave the job where you can't work with your co-workers and your boss is a jerk...........
Find something your passionate about and the people are great to work for too!

Most people quit their managers, not the job.
So I would quit the exciting work, where the boss was a jerk.
In facts thats what I did do - twice.
Once to get married and again for medical reasons.

There is not enough money to pay me to work with a department of jerks. I would stay with the boring work that has people who you can work well with. Here's the thing: Fulfilling work is wonderful, but to be constantly undermined, with others taking credit for what you accomplish, you cannot get ahead anyway. Stress induced by working with toxic people has powerful negative effects on your physical health, your emotional wellbeing, and your mental processes. You can balance the boredom of your work by finding fulfillment in other areas of your life, such as volunteering, church activities, or hobbies that you enjoy.

I wouldn't quit either one cold. I would have to have a plan, and my next job lined up before I made any kind of move.
The jerks have a way of becoming temporary, unless they are in ownership of the company. In that case, you would be better off leaving as soon as possible.

well, i would take the interesting job because the majority of the people around me (at school and in public) are jerks. then, at least, i would be able to get the job elsewhere and i know how to deal with jerks ahead of time, so they won't bother me as much.

In the long run, you will do better considering the job itself. Whom you work with is secondary to whether you're being challenged and the work will help you meet your goals.
