2y - 8 + -.5(3 - 5y)
2y - 8 + -1.5 - 2.5y
2y - 9.5 - 2.5y
-9.5 -0.5y
... which is about as simple as it can go ...
If this expression were set equal to zero, then:
-9.5 -0.5y = 0
-9.5 = 0.5y
-19 = y

There is a precedence of operations. In this case, the multiplication -0.5x(3-5y) is done first and you have 2y - 8 -1.5 +2.5y. Then you can combine like terms (terms with y and terms without y); you get 4.5y-9.5. That's about as far as you go based on the supplied info.

first hi and don't say i am stuck on a math problem ok because if u kept saying that to your self you are going to stuck on a math problem well when we come to the main point it is simple all you have to do is concentrate ok

2y-8+25y-15 collect the like terms
2y+25y-15-8
27y-23 so the answere is
27y-23

2y-8-1/2(3-5y)=0
2y-8-3/2-5/2y=0 (multiply 1/2 though parenthesis)
4/2y-16/2-3/2-5/2y=0 (find common denominator)
-1/2y-19/2=0 (combine like terms)
-1/2y=19/2 (isolate y terms)
y=19/2 * -2 (multiply both sides by -2)
y= -19

okay, what you need to do is take .5(3-5y) and solve that first. so.. 2y- 8 + -15 - 25y combined 2y and 25y. you get 27y, 8 + -15 is -7 so go from there...

alright dont get mad at me if i dont get it right...i just finished this kind of stuff myself, but I am gonna try
1st you simplify the multiplication part
2y - 8 + -15 (distribute the negtive) +25y
so you have 2y - 8 + -15 + 25y
get rid of the negative 15
2y - 8 - 15 + 25y
now put the y variables together
25y +2y - 8 - 15
now just simplify that
27y - 23

you take 0.5 to be 1/2......
-1/2(3-5y)= -3/2+5/2y
which means 2y-8-3/2+5/2y
9/2y-19/2
then you can simplify it
1/2(y-19)

first take .5 and destriube it into the (3-5y). then combine like terms, and solve for x.
