There is a position for employment and they posted the qualifications for the position which a veteran meets but the company is looking specifically for a disable veteran...is this discrimination against a veteran who is not disable? or are they being imparcial?

No, it's not discrimination. As a retired vet, I would gladly stand aside and allow a disabled vet to take a position we were both qualified for. Further, this policy takes the lead in telling everyone that disabled vets are just as capable as anyone else. Equal Opportunity Employment at it's best.

If its a federal job, certain ones give preference to disabled veterans and then veterans over a civilian. It is done on some type of point system.

Its hard to say if this would be a qualification or something else. Just like its not discrimination to hire someone who has a college degree over someone who doesn't.

Hard to say with the information you gave.

SGT Taz reminded me of something else. Some places also get a tax break for hiring a certain number of minorities for thier company. Even small businesses. Part of Affirmative Action.

Even civilian companies post their listings as EOE... there is no such thing as Equal Opportumity Employment anymore. Minorities have preference regardlss of what they say to your face. I believe companies get federal funds for hiring disabled or possibly tax breaks (not positive).

It's not discrimination in their warped little minds if you are part of the majority of that particular group... ie a vet that is not disabled.

The Federal Government gives Tax Exemptions for Hiring Disabled Vets. They are looking for those exemptions. I'm a vet and I got beaten out of a Postal job by a Disabled, Female, Minority vet who scored the same on the exam as I did. That's just the way it works.

Not entirely impartial, but unlike the civilian sector, government employment takes into account military service. In addition is an extra boost for disabled vets -- sort of a small thanks for your service.

It's one thing the government does do right.

It's discrimination. Not right to do that.
