I use them in the can and use them for garbanzo bean soup better known as spanish bean soup it is delicious !!

Thye actually take a long time to cook over two hours. The canned one are easier. I like them roasted with garlic and olive oil till they get a little crispy. I also like making hummus. I have also pureed them to add to pancake or crepe batter for savory fillings such as curried veggies. They can be frozen but you lose some of the texture.

Are you buying the dry ones? I've never bought anything but canned...
I love them right out of the can, on top of salads, or in hummus. Can't say that I've ever cooked them, though.
