from genesis 3:14
"And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life"
does this seem at all unfair to any of you christians out there? let's say the genesis is true. we know that it wasn't the nature of the snake to tempt eve. we are taught that it was actually satan in the form of a snake. was god so easily fooled, that he actually believed a talking snake was just a regular snake? and why did he curse all the snake from then on to crawl on their bellies if only one snake disobeyed him? how is this the actions of a fair and just god? i can understand punishing one snake, but it doesn't make sense to punish all of them for the actions of one. does it?

God's got a shitlist. Once you're on it, you're on it. It happens. Snakes, hunchbacks and midgets (Lev. 21:19-22), and the Dutch, they're all just boned for eternity.
Well maybe not the Dutch, but they should be...freaking clog dancing windmill jockeys.

He punished all mankind for the sin of one man Adam and he punished all snakes for one snake letting the devil use him. If you'll remember Jesus cursed a tree because it had no fruit when He wanted to eat. He is a loving and wonderful Father and God, but at the same time it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the Living God. Hebrew 10:31
Revelation 4:11 (If you want to know why you are here I'll tell you)
"Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created."
You were created for God's pleasure. You really don't have much of a say in anything. God set the rules from physics, to nature, to morals, etc.
By all means - who do you think you are to question God? There are books and books and books that can be written on what man does not know.

Nothing. The people that wrote the Bible made up **** about snakes the same as they did about ribs, women, forbidden trees etc. Snakes have a place in most folklore worldwide as they are often venomous, definitely a singular creature, and commonly thought to be mystical because of their silent, secretive lives.
Nothing 'wrong' with snakes. Myth is myth.

And once again we are falling into the interpretation trap from a MAN written and edited book! The serpent became a metaphor for Evil because according to MAN, God said these things.

Other religions in that region in those days saw the snake as a symbol of wisdom (see the medical symbol) and knowledge. Apparantly wisdom and knowledge was a threat to the up and coming jewish nation....not only that, but demonizing the symbols that your enemies view with adoration is a good early form of propeganda.

All men have a psychological distaste for snakes. This is because when we lived in caves, there was nothing worse than finding a poisonous snake among our covering. Especially if it bit us or one of our children.
