Ice cream helps sooth a sore throat, but if it is combined with a bad chest or cold symptoms it should be avoided as dairy products produce mucus.

I have never heard that, in fact ice cream would probably be quite soothing to a sore throat.

it depends on the source of soreness.
For a smoker's cough it will help.

For a sore throat based off of a runny nose and mucus it will just cause more of the same and make you miserable.

the same goes for all dairy.

attempt to consume bananas,chicken soup,yogurt,milk,boiled carrot,creamed soups,total wheat pasta,honey tea and etc... circumvent oily meals,quickly meals,french fries,fried meals,candies & etc... get better quickly...
