WitchVox and Witchschool sites are pretty good for finding out basics. Wicca (meaning willow) actually predates Christ, and come from the Druids and Celts. There are many branches and beliefs (as with any religion). I studies Celtic, Druids and American Indian cultures from 1994 on. I began taking formal coursed through Witchschool (A Correllian based Wicca faith) and this spring became a first degree priestess. I remain, though, a solitary practitioner primarily because of people like the one who answered you first. People who do not understand will quote the bible to you all day long and refuse to look at history (even church history!) which tells that the earth religions have been around since the dawn of time and that the bible was written and edited by MAN, NOT GOD! 200 years AFTER the death of Jesus. And even HE sought out an oracle at one time, not to condemn this person to hell, but for advice! Also Cunningham, Raven SilverWolf and some other writers (takes too long to list) are good sources for book information. Still, in the end, if you LIVE your religion no matter which path you choose, you don't have to shout it out because it is the right one for you. Good luck and Blessed Be!
Rev. Kaldea
PS I was raised Catholic, but decided to find a more peaceful path that doesn't involve book created religions! IE Christians, Protestants, Mormons, Jews, Muslims, and the like!

Before delving into Wicca, perhaps you should do some research about it's roots, Paganism and Witchcraft.
Though there is magic in Wicca, that is not it's main thrust, at least not how it was founded.
Since I don't know how old you are, I will not say go look for a teacher, I will say avoid anyone who is advertising that they teach Wicca as well as anyone who charges to teach it.
Your best sources for information about Wicca will always be people who practice it and who are known to other people who practice it.

Look it up on google, ebay, and maybe wikipedia. And also, you're about to get flamed really bad by the foaming-at-the-mouth-Christian people... Hey, I'm Christian but it makes no difference to me if you're Wiccan. Who knows, maybe I'll go to hell for being a Christian, you never know.

Try http://www.witchvox.com and http://wicca.timerift.net/ for a lot of information on the subject.
If you have an interest in the Greek Gods you can also look at http://www.hellenion.org, http://www.neokoroi.org and http://www.theoi.com
The last group of sites are not necessarily Wiccan, but there is a lot of information there....

Wiccan for about 20 years.
Wicca may not be right for you. There are many pagan paths you may want to look in.

I would advise investigating the many trads (sects) of Wicca and finding a decent one.
A good listing may be found here:
http://www.witchvox.com/xtrads.html
A decent trad does not claim to be ancient, does not expect you to blindly follow a leader and DOES NOT CHARGE. http://wicca.timerift.net can provide you with a bunch of good information that will help weed the good trads from the bad.

It's also by far the most popular religion in most bookstore's new age sections.
