Anyways, there was a separation in the evolutionary time line.
There are several steps in the evolution process between "monkey" and man. including nomads, Neanderthals (I could go on)
while monkeys evolved into the modern day chimps you see today.

Some had to evolve to adjust to new surroundings. Others stayed the way they were because they were already adjusted to their surroundings. Evolution is a continuous changing to adapt to changes in environment.
