I think it's probably the Lord's Prayer, but it was meant to teach us how to pray, not to be rotely prayed over and over. I think God prefers a sincere, heartfelt prayer. It doesn't have to be eloquent and flowery. :))

I think that the Lord's Prayer (or Our Father to some of the Catholics out there) is more commonly said because it is used by many, if not all (?), Christian religions, whereas the Hail Mary is essentially used by Catholics. Personally, I tend to pray by my own words unless the situation is so emotional that I cannot coherently formulate prayer... regardless, I know God knows what I want to say.
I have a question too... above Brian said, "The Bible is clearly against repetitive prayers and Chanting." I was wondering where that is. I'm relatively familiar with the Bible, but I don't have any recollection of such an admonition.
Thanks!

Jesus told us NOT to repeat prayers. Just before the Lord's Prayer in Luke a man came up and asked Jesus how to structure a prayer. In Matthew Jesus was giving a speech and told them how to structure a prayer. So each line in it is the area you should be making a prayer.
Where it says "Our Father that is in Heaven" means ALL prayers should start off being address to God and only God. And make it different each time. Then go to the nest line and make the next part of your prayer.
The Lords prayer is more popular that the Hail Mary because only Catholics say Hail Mary. Anytime one prays to Mary or anyone other than God, they are disobeying the second Commandment/sinning.

The Lord's Prayer cuz first off if u go to a catholic school, u learn both but not all religions believe in praying to anyone else & only to God like my religion. So the hail mary is good but not even in my current school we dont say it at all but we do use the Our Father everyonce in a while.
the 'Here I lay...' is a good one but i neve learned it to a point of memorization but i do really liek it especially when the have those precious moment dolls where u can push its belly & her it =)

Christ gave us the example of how to pray (Matthew 6:9). We always pray to the Father through Jesus Christ (John 14:13-14). God will answer our prayer and that is something you can hang onto and cherish. The answer may not come in the time we desire but the answer will come. We pray to God on our time and He answers our prayer on His time. His time is always perfect. The answer may be totally different than what we expected, but He will provide us with what we need.
Paul prayed for healing three different times and he felt God did not answer him (2 Corinthians 12:7-10). Yet, God did answer Paul and it was enough for Paul once it became clear to him. Even though the answer was not what Paul was expecting, it still gave him comfort. Paul did not let his trial interfere with the mighty work he had to do.
the lord's prayer is for us for an example, not something that should be repeated again and again, but speak to God as you would to a father, for He is our Father.
Rom 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
Rom 8:27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

Prayer is actual communication. The Lord's Prayer is a sample of a good prayer. The Hail Mary is a broken record. It might have meaning if said once in awhile, but that constant repetition has to have Paul spinning in his grave.
The most often repeated prayer? How about "Oh, God! HELP!!!!!"

One day I came home from school and being a new born again christian, i knelt down and prayed and asked in prayer HOW to PRAY. as i stood up, i heard the spirit prompt me to turn on the tv. I walked across the room and turned on the tv to CBN and right there and then a pastor was teaching from Luke 11, the LORDs prayer.
I memorized the verses and have always said that in my prayer. I think therefore the lords prayer is said more often.

Actually, I pray them all, throughout the course of a month. I dont pray "Hail Mary." I guess thats because I am not catholic. I am not saying there is anything wrong with it, so please, all the catholics , please dont get angry with me
My best prayer is
"Lord help me thorough this day, and help everyone around the world in whatever ways they need it."
This is from the heart. it is good though that we have model prayers to take from when we are too tired to think for ourselves.

Probably the "Our Father" especially among non Catholics.
Actually I don't pray either one.
My preferred prayers are
I Chr 4:10(The Jabez Prayer)
II Chr 7:14(For the nation)
Ps 23, 91(very important for all), 103(renew your strength like eagles)
Isa, 54(especially 54:17)
Eph. 1:16-23, 3:14-20(Gods perfect will for our lives)
Col 1:9-11(God's Perfect Will for our lives)
I Thess 5:23Rapture Prayer)
Zech 9:9-12
Isa 43:25,26.
In addition I'm big on Mark 11:23-26(confession and prayer of faith)
3 John 2(prosperity and health)
II Cr 8:9(the blessings of Almighty God)
And of course I Cr 13;8a, Love never fails(NKJV)
--------------------
Of course there are many many other things to pray for
--------------------
Psalm 122:6 (Jerusalem, very very important)
Psalm 91 (for everyone, especially for our troops)
The above 2 prayers should be prayed by all everyday w/o fail.

I was at a catholic church funeral recently and they said hail Mary an unbelievable amount of times. It was sad to see so many words spoken in pray that were not of the Spirit.I knew many of the people there personally. Many of them were ungodly people yet they knew the words to this prayer.
Psalms 66:18 "If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:"
