I practice celibacy for 6 years before my second marriage. Worked fine for me.

How old are you? This is a big key factor. In our not so long ago history abstinence was the norm until a couple got married. This was considered the greatest thing you could give your new spouse. Yourself.

But lets be real. Things have certainly changed. It's going to happen on occasion. Just try not to become some barnyard goat. Shame is a very tough thing to live down!

Personally being a family man with two pretty daughters I vote for abstinence. Misplaced and careless sex can not only hurt you, it can hurt the loved ones around you.

This brings us full circle. How old are you?

Bye Bye

For some peopl Abstinence is a good idea. However, it really depends on the situation. Teach abstinence to children as the only way to avoid unplanned pregnancies and STDs is wrong. They need to be fully educated on the risks and the way to avoid those risks. We are all sexual beings, to deny that is to deny our nature. Better to arm children with the truth, then to try to protect them from the dangers they will likely encounter.

Yes, I do think it's a good idea. I think that staying away from sex until marriage is what God has intended for us from the beginning of time. People don't realize exactly how much pain someone goes through when they have sex at a time they should have just waited. Sex at a young age causes some extreme emotional pain. Being used causes heartbreak. It always brings the risk of pregnancy and even disease. It isn't worth it. The pain is too much. The risk is too great for just a few minutes of pleasure that someone could have with one person when they are married and secure in life.

I don't think the idea of abstinence carries any intrinsic morality. Practicing abstinence certainly can be a good idea, depending on your goals, religion, or value system.

well i guess it just depends on the person..but for me no...sexual desires are very normal and to get the release that sexual pleasure gives its great..i think safe sex is smart sex...not all can be abstinence so they should be taught safe sex so no unplanned pregnancy's will come of it...sexual desires have been around a long time but no one would never talk about them a long time ago..now its more out in the open and kids as young as 11and12 are having sex..i just think there should me more awareness on safety of sex cause some just can keep from doing it..more classes on how to be safe and the pleasures of sex should be taught..anyone needing to learn should email me for more details.,good luck.....o i did see your other question you ask too send me an email and i can give you some advice on waiting on sex they are some easy steps to follow.

It's a great idea until you are old enough to deal with the consequences of your behavior. Can you go to the doctor and get your own birth control meds? Could you pay for an abortion if needed? Do you have the means to raise a child if one was conceived?

Probably, though every instinct tells me otherwise, it's probably best to practice abstinence, i'd say more so if you're a woman, there's more downsides to having sex for women then there is for men.

Its not really practical. If you preach abstinence you will likely just get ignored.
