We all know that there are about 12 million illegal immigrants in the US. Most of them from Mexico, but many of which are from Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, and other central and even south american countries. A lot people don't think that they should be here and should go back. Others say that it is ok that they are here so long as they come here legally.
I know many families that are here illegaly. Many come here because they wanted to live a better life and live the American Dream. So yes, come here LEGALLY, but wait, how long does that take? That could take up to 10 years, maybe more. Imagine this old homeless person waiting outside in the cold, waiting... waiting for the doors to open, so he could go to a warmer place. Many of those immigrants just cant wait, so they just come. they have no control over the economy of their country either. I dunno thats my point of view, I'd like to hear yours.

What makes illegal aliens so "special"? Why can't THEY "wait" while everyone else around the world does?
I think they are a criminal element and bring a criminal mindset to our country. They aren't the kind of people we want here. They should all be deported to open up room for truly law-abiding immigrants. Those who respect our country enough to follow the laws.

There are not a lot of cold old people waiting outside. Even if there were millions of them, is the solution to allow them to break into your home?
America is the land of opportunity. It is great and it is vast but it is not unlimited. It can only support so many dream seekers. Allowing anyone to just walk in is akin to dumping fertilizer in the water supply. A little is tolerable and may even improve the quality of the water by promoting plant life. Too much and the water is no long potable. Keep adding more and what was once a reservoir is now a fetid swamp.
Part of the reason it takes so long to become a citizen is the value of being an American citizen. Why do some people wait in line for concert tickets for several days? They value those tickets that much.
Another reason is the enormous number of illegal aliens that have already stolen the opportunities that would have been available to the legal immigrants. Controlling the borders would help legal immigrants, too.

America's number one problem, we must fix it URGENT
Does illegal immigration provide cheap labor? NO: illegals cost a lot more money than they save. We can hire Americans and legals just like in the 60s with that. Why did America grow so much since the 60s? What happened? Massive legal and illegal immigration
Does illegal immigration fulfill the needs of some philanthropic potiticians? NO: check out this video and see how many gumballs are left (how many homelesses waiting outside)
Is it so impossible that Mexico fixes itself?

Try 40 million. We have no control over the economy of our country either - and it is sinking fast. What do you think life will be like in this country in 2050 with no drinking water and no decent food, a billion people living here and only 5 dollar an hour jobs? When we become third world we won't be able to help anybody.

i know that to come to this country is illegal but many people just don't understand that some times it is hard to live in a country that is hard to find a job and to feed their families. my parents came to this country to look for a better life my dad who is know a resident has had achieved the American Dream which is buy your house and see your children in collage and that they are going to have the life that they never
i do believe that they need to do something about the immigration laws and it they do pass an amnesty they should be hard on requirements because if you are in this county illegally and getting into trouble like stealing, or just have a bad history record then you don't deserve to be in this country but if you pay your taxes and respect the law then you deserve to be here
i would also like to add that this country does need illegal people because someone has to go cut the fruit and do the factory jobs that many Americans wont do fro the minimum wage

The problem is is that there are millions of homeless AMERICANS waiting out in the cold becasue our tax dollars are going to support ILLEGALS! So yes, I feel that they should be sent packing ans come back LEGALLY, no matter how long it takes.
As a country it is our responsibility to take care of OUR OWN people first, not every other freaking dead beat that crosses our borders. we have ehought deadbeats that are citizens that we should be helping before forking out BILLIONS of dollars for ILLEGALS.

I understand why they come, but they are breaking a law they same way as if they stole money for their family. Everyone seems to talk about how to make it easier or harder for them to break the law. No one seems to talk about the law. As much as I understand why they are here and have sympathy for them; enforce the law to the fullest extent or repeal the law.
And it is Government control of Oil that is why Mexico's economy is what it is and their IMF loans were used for social programs not infrastructure.

i think that whomever is caught living in the U.S. illegally should be deported immediatley. i think that border patrol should do a better job. it should take a lot more to become a citizen and the number of approvals should be limited. i also think that if you live here you pay taxes like the rest of us. when you become a citizen you should have all the freedoms americans have except being able to serve in the white house or congress etc...

I think it could potentially be a big issue, but now it is not.
What is far more important is our lack of planning for our future.
That affects our country as well as our children.
While we worry about the short term affects of things like lead on our children's toys, we are doing nothing for their long term future. We'll argue about things that do not affect the vast majority of us, but when it comes to the good of the country overall, we have the attention span of a gnat.
We do not plan for our future. All we do is muddle along, which went well for decades because we were the only game in town. But with globalization leveling the playing field, we have no choice but to plan and make those plans as transparent as China does with its plans. Even you can see China's plans for its future
http://www.china.org.cn use their search engine.
Our biggest enemy is our egotism, arrogance, and our go it alone attitude. Our biggest ally could be to learn from countries that do know how to affectively plan. But we won't. As long as we have divisive politics and worry about things that you are consumed with, we'll eventually fall off the radar as a good decent country that others look up too.
===========
Think about this. If the USA plans for its future, it will also make plans on how to deal with illegal immigration, since that has to do with our future.

i think the entire idea of countries is completely outdated, originally used to mark a kings territory of tax collection, oh wait that's still the case. illegal immigrants should be welcomed with open arms, ESPECIALLY by the US the only reason that country is so economically powerful is because of the immigrants from Ireland and Italy, not forgetting the unwilling immigrants from Africa. but as usual, once someone is rich sharing is out of the question.
Aslisted by many answerers, "the CRIMINAL elemant",
you guys have nothing to moan about, my country's murder rate is almost half that of Iraq's, and we aren't even at war, a suburb 20 minutes away lists 400 murders a year, sure there is an influx of Zim immigrants but the crime was heading that way looong before that started, crime is created out of desperation, perhaps the richest country in the world should wonder where that desperation is seeding from?
