For me it took a few years to stop trying to explain the world in terms of God, even though I didn't believe in one. Realizing it's okay to see the world from a different perspective is a next big step.

Everyone already realizes God does not exist. The FIRST step is to stop going to a dry well looking for water.

There are atheist groups that meet, but I can't imagine what they talk about, because it's not like you can find more proof or realization. Can't prove the negative.
So I don't think there is a next step. We're all pretty low key. No need to make an announcement or anything.

GOD does exist. The proof is in our sky. From our view the sun and the moon appear to be the same size even though one is much larger and farther away. Courtesy of our Creator, Jesus Christ. Wish I could be there when YOU realize(hopefully before you die) that GOD does exist and that HE loves you more than you will ever know.

Even Mother Theresa realized it was a pile of crap. Google Mother Theresa + letters. She admits how dark her search was, and how unfulfilling... and she's saint!

Abdul: People like you need to be locked up. You obviously can only be controlled by religion, since you have no moral compass inside of you.
Typical theist, always thinking that religion makes people into better people and stops them doing horrible things. When religion stops to exist, there will obviously be a whole bunch of theists that will have to be destroyed, since they obviously lack the ability to think on their own and they have no morals without someone else (from 2000+ years ago) telling them how to live their lives. I guess I am one of the lucky ones, being an atheist, having the ability to think for myself and knowing right from wrong. It must suck to be a theist and not having a mind that obviously works correctly and without religion they would be mass murderers and rapists. That is shameful.

Well, more of a hop, skip and jump than a step.
A lot of people have trouble loosing their religion because they were depending on their church for all of their social needs. It is like getting out of a cult. They are no longer acceptable inless they convert again to religion and thery know not how to line as a free human.
There are more recovery groups for cult dropouts than for religion victims.
A sad state of affairs indeed.
If you know anybody recently out of religion invite them out for a coffee or something.

Well, after the Christians commit mass suicide, or need to be arrested for the crimes they will immediately try to commit, life will go on approximately the same as before. There will just be one less topic for us to debate about and/or kill each other over.
