Because they do not really believe in God to begin with. Jesus told his apostles that they had received free, to give free. Any religious organization that REQUIRES its members to pay a priest/ pastor/ or other religious leader can not claim to be Christian. Any person who accepts a salary for "teaching" others the word of God can not rightfully call themselves Christians. In fact, the very existence of those titles shows that they are not following Christ's footsteps. Jesus also told his followers that they should not have any prestigious titles amongst themselves, but that they were all brothers. Any religion where there exists a clergy and laity distinction also can not claim to be Christian. I have researched a lot of different religions that claim to be Christian, and only Jehovah's Witnesses follow closely the first century model of Christianity that Jesus and his apostles followed. Anybody who tells you different has some other motivation in mind. I agree with you, and I hope that this gives you some insight into why there are scandals in today's churches. Jesus said that the truths he taught would only be understood by those unlettered and ordinary. It takes a humble, teachable person to have true faith in god. Anyone who uses Jesus Christ's name to make a profit is only fit for one thing according to the Holy Scriptures... Adverse Judgement. Hope this helps.

let me just say- what do have to believe in these days? And I'm not simple minded, are you for asking a question that you would know, would bring any comments on anyone christian thought, You don't know what you miss unless you have never had it! And yes, Our Christian leaders do use funds from the offering plate, for things like renovations to our church and paying our charities out of this monies, it is broken down to percentages, so that all the monies are distibuted thru-out all christian charities, if your not sure where the monies goes ask your own Pastor, and he or she will be willing to tell you, do not discriminate against any church or foundation unless you have all the facts. Some religious leaders don't just have our money on their minds, some have our wellbeing and whether our souls have been cleansed and do we know our Savior, it's more to it than you will ever realize, If you are a true Christian, then these statements are questions you are having a negative thought on, never dwell on the negative only think about the positve in all things and never worry about things that you yourself cannot change in this world, God, Has made a plan for everyone and thing .It's not up to us to question, and it's not up to us tojudge. Everyone in due time will have to make his or her on judgement on their day, and watch what you ask of people if you don't want true answers, in order to be like Jesus, you need to remember to dis-associate yourself from all negative thoughts to cleanse your soul. Comments!

That is because they have taken God for granted, since the devotees approach them to interact with God through them. They think that they are above God Himself! They are of the opinion that the devotees cannot convey their prayers or feelings to God nor does the God Himself shower any favours on His devotees without their acting as intermediaries.
It is not totally their fault either. They too are human beings, after all. We, the devotees only make them fell that they are larger than life.

Who says they don't have faith, that is a very generalized statement. Not all religious leaders live life so extravagantly.
Read a Book. Preferably the BIBLE!

I think they have faith in God, but not enough to know that every action has a reaction.

Very few Priests and Pastors and other clergy are guilty of what you suggest.
Why do you ask such a biased, bigoted question?

You would have to experience it for yourself. For instance something bad has happened and nobody can help! You trust in god and believe without any doubt and he comes through every time. I wouldn't be alive if it wasn't my faith in him and his Grace towards me.

Man is fallible. The wrong-doings of any man, even one who purports to serve God, does not lessen my belief in God.
